I still don't understand what is witness and why people need to be one ?

we literally assemble the blockchain with servers we operate. Witnesses vote on settings that dictate a variety of functions around here like size per block or the price of the currencies for post reward calcs etc. People also have a variety of projects they work on. Some are like good karma who created esteem. Some are like gtg that manages a lot of infrastructure. Tim Cliff helps in steemit chat for help all the time. Riverhead built steemit chat. I run a group for ~4000 minnows to work together and grow together. If you like their work and their projects than toss them an upvote.

I really need to look into what witness is apparently, I had no idea idea it had to do with stuff like this, lol.

The @minnowsupport program is really cool, especially for people such as myself who regularly checks the platform. I've met some very cool users and have had the chance to learn more about delegating to specific/general groups to help others out, I think that's a really cool idea.

I totally understand the addiction. My laptop is open to the PALnet MSP Discord channel approximately 18 hours a day. I'm fortunate that the work I do allows me to be active online. The growth of our PALnet community is exponential. Empowered minnows are motivated minnows. I've seen very few MSP projects fail. (Come to think of it--have I seen any MSP projects fail?)

Some prominent person in the Steemit community made a statement once that I read. For the life of me, I can't remember his name to give him proper credit. Someone will know, so please make sure this gets the right attribution. He said: "The quickest way to become a whale is to help 100 minnows become dolphins."

Folks, I've got news for you--Aggroed is about to embody that theory. Because if 100 minnows becoming dolphins can make a whale. . .what's going to happen when 4,000 minnows become dolphins? But let me add one more thought to this: that wasn't even the goal. 4,000 minnows aren't swimming in Aggroed's wake because he schemed to become a whale. 4,000 minnows are swimming in Aggroed's wake because his priorities are in order. A direct quote from Aggroed: "It's more fun to give." And it isn't just lip service. 4,000 minnows have watched him live this mantra every day.

I made a post today about how Steemit is a game-changer and life-saver for me. Truth is, this probably wouldn't have been the case had I not stumbled into the PALnet minnowsupport chat and decided to make it my permanent address. I would have taken my toys and gone home long ago. But it did happen, and my circumstances have changed for the better. So yes--I understand the addiction. It's one that actually makes sense.

What is a minnow here? Is that just a Steem term, an investing term, or crypto specific? I know I can look it up by searching, but it comes up so often here that I figured by now I'd have learned it but I haven't yet.

Are minnows non-whale users? Are they anti whale? Does it have anything to do with whale at all? Am I a minnow? Do I want to be? If I have to be upset with other users, whale or not, then no thanks.

Are there minnows on other sites? Are democrats the minnows of USA? I'm more Republican than Democrat. I like and respect whales. I don't know if I like and respect minnows here. Seems like complainers or hopeful organizers of others, but I don't really know yet.

Maybe I am a minnow or love minnows. Maybe minnows are another word for Steem user? Maybe I just like to write late at night when im not making much sense.

Minnows are the posters here with less Sterm Power. Some people define a Minnow as under 1000 Steem Power. At the opposite end are the whales: they havd huge amounts of Stedm Power. In the middle are Dolphins. I've heard these terms used outside of Steem, but they used often here because it makes much more in terms of the influence you yield.

A minnow is a steemit user that doesn't have very much steem power in their account.

That is a great channel you have there on discord app. I have joined it some time ago and It really helped me alot to mix up with fellow steemians.
Being a minnow is very hard on steemit because you never get noticed. We need exposure and without it our content is as good as dead.
I am actually working with some minnows to start a voting bot which would freely vote on minnows posts. I just hope everything should go as expected .

I am not able to join discord anymore, everytime I try I get the message that the invite is invalid or expired. I think it has something to do with me accidentally copy-pasting a link to my post in the wrong channel. Is there a way to undo this?

I guess @aggroed was the first person to whom I gave my witness vote. @minnowsupport is not one of the best but the best project for minnows. Not asking for any Steems or SBD and helping minnows to grow on this platform. I have one suggestion though. How about creating a similar project that will resteem the posts of minnows to increase the reach/views of a quality post?

Steemit is addictive, and the more I learn about Steemit, the less I think I know. I do not know what a witness, and now I might end up spending a few hours learning what it actually is.

Always appreciative of what you do for the Steemit Community. Novice question: You mentioned "stake weighted votes", what exactly does that mean? Is that a vote from accounts with higher SP vs newer people like me voting?

Yeah. You can't value it 1 person = 1 vote because it's rigged. That's true in the real world, it's worse in steemit cause of bots. So, it's stake weighted voting. If @freedom votes for you it's a massive vote. If a newbie does it than it has less impact.

Hey dude. There are a lot of things I want to ask you about the PAL initiative but for a while I was worried that my legitimate questions would be tainted by the inevitable bitterness that came from not winning your weekly contest and receiving your resteem despite being on your honorable mention list three times in a row and embodying the values of peace love and abundance more than some of the winners. (That was a long ass sentence, yeah?) This was further aggravated by seeing you reach rock star status on the platform around the same time. Now that I'm over it, I feel it's fine to ask.

I'll start with this, and feel free to direct me to any posts that fully answer this question (don't link me to something that kind of sort of maybe answers the question please). Aside from contests, what does PAL do to promote quality posts? I feel that loyalty to PAL and to you pays off much more than quality at PAL and I'd like for you to prove me wrong here because you do seem like a decent guy and there's no doubt that you have worked hard to benefit the platform, I just want to see that hard work be fully effective.. PAL feels a bit too much like a fraternity to me which is why you haven't seen me around despite my busy activity during the first few days.

There are multiple curation programs within the group. There are writing workshops, fiction workshops, and mentors all over the place. We're building shows to help with that too. So, the framework is a big social umbrella. You're right about that, and it's up to you to connect with the groups in there that help with the curation and quality part of the mission.

Always the bridesmaid. Never the bride. You gotta leverage your network. Its decided by votes. Get people to vote for you.

I guess it all feels a bit centralized to me, and a bit more of a popularity contest than a focus on content, but I guess I respect what you are trying to do. Maybe I'll head in and check out some of the other rooms and see what their about.

I like your positive addiction lol I have look deeper into minnow support. I like it cause it has great leads to the community. Yet I haven't quite figured out how to use it. Though there was a week where I received several 0.001 sbd from random people. No clue what I did to get it lol.
The fun thing about steemit is that it's so involved you learn more as you interact more.
