The genus Thysania groups together some of the largest nocturnal moths in the world. These creatures, often called "white witches" or "ghost moths", are true colossi of the insect kingdom and have captured the imagination of entomologists and hobbyists alike. Although their role in ecosystems is not fully understood, Thysania are thought to play an important role as pollinators. In addition, their size and beauty make them emblematic species that can help raise awareness about the importance of conserving biodiversity. I came across one on my way home one night, as I approached, I could appreciate the delicate patterns and subtle hues that adorned its wings. I immediately recognized its distinctive features: it was a Thysania, one of the largest and most enigmatic genera of nocturnal moths in the world. However, my joy turned to sadness when I realized that the specimen was lifeless. It was a hard blow for any nature lover, but even more so for someone who knew how rare and little studied this species is. Here is another photo of the front of the moth so you can appreciate the beauty of its pattern. [IMAGE: https://images.ecency.com/DQmSU3WAQLPisi9Jt1h4wYz6jWBXr9MsAs4vMGHaabHMCx2/20221210_232625.jpg]

I hope to be of help to the scientific growth of the community and above all I hope you enjoy this beautiful image.

How can you have it in your hands like that? 😱 It is very itchy because of its fur, in my country we are a bit afraid of them because of that, because it gives a terrible allergy to the skin.

I took the photo two years ago, but I don't remember having any rash or anything like that, I don't know if the fact that it was dead had any influence, I was also very delicate when touching it.
