BY: @area-55 | CREATED: Aug. 13, 2018, 1:42 p.m. | VOTES: 119 | PAYOUT: $46.21 | [ VOTE ]

DETAILS

facil.io is a C micro-framework for web applications. facil.io includes:

facil.io provides high performance TCP/IP network services to Linux / BSD (and macOS) by using an evented design (as well as thread pool and forking support) and provides an easy solution to the C10K problem.

REPOSITORY

LINKED TASK REQUEST

This logo contribution is not an entry of a task request on Utopian, I directly search for valuable project that I think needs logo in Github. Here is Github issue link where I tried to propose my logo to project owner.

ISSUES SOURCE

MERGE SOURCE

INITIAL SKETCH

Taking into account the indications of the owner had to make a design that worked well in two schemes (day and night). I was inspired by some websites suggested by the owner similar to Facil.io.

These were the results:

ADVANTAGES

For this project I presented several sketches, of which 2 were the favorites chosen by the owner.

The first one shows a letter "F" over some bubbles and in one of them the word "io", in the logo you can see the word "fio" which is the abbreviated name of the repository (facil - imput - output).

The second one shows the letter "F" inside a hexagon, this hexagon is formed by triangles in several tones of the same color, strategically eliminating several triangle to form the letter "F" (This was chosen by the owner and another collaborator). This proposal was very well received by the owner of the project.

What benefits does this logo bring to the Facil.io project?

CONSTRUCTION

COLOR

Since I presented several color options, I decided to use a palette of colors in shades of blue, these colors represent confidence and technology, at the same time it gives a more relaxed feeling.

TIPOGRAPHY

To accompany the logo design, I decided to use the Square721 Ex BT font.

DIFFERENTS SIZES

This logo is very appropriate for use in large sizes and small sizes (icon, favicon).

PROOF OF AUTHORSHIP

Nice work, indeed. I like how you developed from an initial idea to the final design. However, you should work on your presentation and post format.

Know the project

I can see that you copied the description from the GitHub. As we can all agree that using an official description is the easiest we can do, it also quite hide whether you actually understand what the project is about.

Since you used one of your previous posts as the starting point, you forgot to update the name to the current project. Pay attention to details. You should enjoy writing the posts and sharing your work instead of taking it as a routine where you produce the same post every time.

Share more about your work

You could include more information on the colour scheme, the number of variations, your work with the project owner and the design iterations. Don't force the readers to click on each and every link.

Also, don't aim the post only for Utopian moderators. That should not be the purpose of your submissions. You should be willing to share your work even without the Utopian vote.

Improve post format

It is obvious that you use your "post template" with changes in some sections. The flow of the content is always the same, using the same structure elements at the same place.

Consider making your post unique among your own submissions. Each project is different and you can make each of your posts different too.

Consider using more appropriate markdown styling. You use headings wrapped in the links. If you want to use headings, you should write some words to it, otherwise, you could use something like bold text, a table or something else to organize your links.

Avoid using small images. Although merging the images for the "proof of authorship" may be better than submitting them separately, it is difficult to actually see anything in there. Perhaps you could either crop only the important parts of the images or include them in a separate folder if you want to include them.

Check Mastering Markdown.

Watch your typos

Always reread your text. There are several typo errors which worsen the reading experience. You can use for example Grammarly to check for typos for you.

Keep up the good work, I really enjoyed going through the GitHub issue and seeing the progress. But as I said, aim your posts to the real readers, other designers and the community in general. Don't make it only for the Utopian moderators.

Excellent your recommendations, I will follow them, I do not speak English and use an automatic translator, sometimes these translators generate some errors in the grammar of the content, I will try to use a simpler language.

As always Utopian allows you to develop your talents and with professional people like you we learn to be better in our work, you are right in saying that we should work for the projects and not for the moderators.

Thank you for your contribution. Try to use more white space around logos in your presentation. I like multiple version in one color you have made.
