Gold and Crypto

How do you explain to a 92 year old man blockchain technology when the fiat has no concrete value like gold. What makes crypto better, well how about you don’t have one party, one government but a group of people controlling it. Was a tough conversation, I would love some help trying to explain it. Maybe he is right, maybe we all need to step back and manage money grounded in something concrete verses credit. Love to know what you think?
