Filling the spaces

Over the last few days I've been busy filling the spaces of my life with all manner of things; I've enjoyed it because it's been all about me with no one else to have to concern myself over.

I don't mean this to sound selfish, I'd rather have my guy home with me but when he's away for work I focus on myself a lot more and feel I need that space. I think he feels the same way although I know he worries about me being alone when he's away.

I've been painting and gardening mostly and have been trying out a few protein shakes to make for breakfast; I'm yet to find the right one but when I do it will make our morning routine a bit easier. I've not cooked much which is unusual; we usually make our own meals rather than take-out food. But I've not gone hungry though and tonight I think I'll order something in and watch some shows on TV.

I just spoke with my guy, he's almost two thousand miles away and in another time zone but is going well, as is his work.

I sent him a picture of me, one I'll not show here of course, and he was grateful. Other than that, we spoke about his accommodation, I always like to see where he's staying so I feel closer to him, and we chatted about small things until he had to go for dinner. He'll be back soon and with only a few more work trips for the year, he'll be all mine for almost two months afterwards.

You don’t sound selfish at all. We love our partners but having time to ourselves, without them around, is important. This is because it makes way for a more healthy relationship.

The good time spent together is what makes the moments special during the lonely time....I can relate it and you have reminded me my old memories, when I was in a distant relation... knowing every little things about each other like the food, accomodation, view becomes more special...❤️

Long distance relationships can be difficult and so often end badly although if the two people work at it I think it's possible.

We always need time for ourselves, independent and solitary spaces, even though we miss our life partners. Fortunately, there is less time left for them to spend a lot of time together and enjoy it to the fullest.

As I have a business trip expected this week (then I will be half the distance from my partner that separates you and your man), I told her what you wrote: "At least you will have time for yourself".
"Don't be silly and come home as soon as possible" was all she told me.

Both she and I have our "solo" moments, but it's nicer when we're apart, and there's not a big distance between us, and if we want, we can be next to each other in a short time.
