What "fine print" are you talking about? Our system warns users first thing and VERY CLEARLY what fees it charges. It actually annoys the hell out of me when someone ignores them, because then I have to refund their money when they don't send enough to pay the bitcoin fee. I don't profit by it, it goes right out of our wallet as fees. In summary: if you're an experienced trader, you should realize now you shouldn't trust everything you read, especially not from a blowhard like bernie.

Bernie makes a habit of making one line comments then upvoting them for $27 dollars each, all the while cloaking his actions under compensating himself for "saving the rewards pool". It's such utter horseshit, I'm amazed anyone falls for it. Well, I saved the reward pool quite a lot tonight, he should be proud of me :-)

I honestly don't know what exactly to say about this except that perhaps it is time you both come to a compromise or something. Hello @blocktrade, you could help minnow and the platform more by reducing your fees and giving discounted SP lease for community accounts for curation. You spread your upvote and only a few(1%) benefits. But if you give out some discounted SP renting/delegation to curation (community) account you will be making much impact on the growth of the platform.
Just my thoughts and suggestions. Pls dont flag me....am just a minnow!!

@berniesanders Yes...this is a bit strange. I think that we can all learn from another and also improve things, if they're not as effected or one sided! Lets all work for a better Steemit! I have also seen some strange moves that make the community pool swing one way. This is a place where we should be able to speak the truth and not be afraid of getting unfairly flagged.
PEOPLE take a look at the detais! Is sometimes odd to see a new comer have a great reputation right of the back, with little to no content... not to mention having an effortless growth in the community. I personally have had my highs and lows here. There's times where I dedicate a lot of planning on content gathering; just to get emotionally crushed by the payout. But that is life, and I'm ok with it. But lets not get crushed by the preferences some people have here with the advantages. Life is not fair but lets not be suckers either. Best wishes to all.

It's my understanding that sometime in the past a flag war that would make the current goings on look like a minor 5th grade lunchroom food fight happened and @berniesanders was repeatedly flagged by a single user with a very high rep(70+) that had a ton of Steem Power.

It seems in its short existence Steemit already has a colorful history.

@randystiefer It's very hard to gain reputation here... and it takes a lot of time and effort... But too bad that one single user can bring down your reputation to zero with just a few flags. It might take an year to reach (70) but it can get to (-18) in a few days,,,Don't you think the algorithm is faulty?

As everyone knows (spoiler alert), anywhere that is too good to be true, is always The Bad Place. I suggest we keep the mocking humour, the clashes, the two-fingered salute to 'good authority'. After all, that's what life is about. It's drama, a theatrical conflict of ideas and counter ideas. That is true democracy. Celebrate it. Defend your positions and love the drama of it all. Recently, when I transfered 53 SBD when it was trading about 2$, I noticed that blocktrades took a very high fee. I don't recall how high but it was around 3-5%. I have traded in shapeshift and their fee is generally much lower.

I have stopped using blocktrades. Now I use openledger. It is still not that good but better than blocktrades.

Blocktrades price are always high from the start, but he does say it on his site, even tho i stop using bt all together, i transfer steem to bittrex and sell it for btc, if i want to go the other way i buy steem on bittrex with btc and transfer into steemit, i avoid bt at all cost.

Thanks for the information. I am new to Steem and I was wondering what was the best way to purchase Steem. Since I already have a Bittrex account, I plan on following your advice

buy it from there and transfer it into steemit to power up without going into bt.

Hello, @berniesanders, i like the pesonality you have put up on this platform, saving the reward pool. How you go about it may not have sat well with many, but sometimes ways like this are needed.
@blocktrade i know from the exchange and have noticed his votes on few minnow that i know for creating quality post. I never knew about him upvoting shit post until this came up.

Please i appeal to both @blocktrade and @berniesanders to please talk about the issues privately and compromise at some point. It is only hurting the platform, the reward pool, the minnows and both of you. I believe you both can come to a compromise.

BTW- there are exchanges and it’s a free market so shop around. Some banks have higher f/x fees then others. Shop around. That’s the beauty of competition.

Blocktrades fees were always outrageously high whenever I tried to get in out or out of STEEM.

It was a tipoff that all is not well with STEEM.

There are very few places where it even trades.

There is a reason STEEM is slowly sinking, dropped out of top 35 recently, and will be out of top 40 alt coins before XMas

And we have all the developers focused on SMTs?? Puuuhhhhleeease.

For the moment SBD is $ 2.3 and Bitshares is $ 0.14 so do your math.
With blocktrades you get more that 50% less

Maybe you should do your math again. It's 5% by coinmarketcap pricing(including the fee to send the BTS). It drops to 4.7% according to CMD if you send 2 SBD (which reduces the impact of the fee to send the BTS).

I think bittrex is good.So, i will transfer my SBD only bittrex and sell it btc.I have stopped using blocktrades.

Bittrex used to be really good, until they switched the rules overnight, and now require "verification" (meaning legal name, address, DOB, etc) if you want to withdraw anything. They still let you deposit without it, so they can keep your cryptos.

Apparently lots of legal systems around the world also seem to have this role, but they serve in different capacities. I think it is worthwhile putting this on the #bisteemit and #statistics radar and see if we can get some facts and figures on this one. I know that someone like @paulag and @eastmael or even @littleboy would probably be able to gather more information than I can gather on this, and perhaps after some careful consideration of the facts we can come to some reasonable resolution of this issue?

There's enough payout generated from this post to consider or warrant further investigation for sure. The problem with being able to look into this further is that I can't see a clear dispute between the parties concerned, so it is unlikely that any form of dispute resolution is going to help if neither side can put forward a clear argument that they are willing to back up with objective information and then let an independent party make a decision. But if they do want to resolve this I have proposed several dispute resolution processes previously and would welcome an opportunity to put it to the test.

I was not aware blocktrades is actually a person. I thought he was apart of steemit as it has an easy link to go on to exchange for steem. I will have to be more careful with blocktrades from now on.

BTW berniesanders certainly should not have a reputation of -18. Just this one article he has almost twice the amount of my entire steemit account. lol. I have a reputation of 55. Something certainly not right.

- Steemit system should be more user-friendly.

Hey @berniesanders I'm really glad you asked about this, check this out. I wrote a post wondering why the fees are so high when trying to convert sbd to btc and I got downvoted by blocktrades as if I was attacking him or whatnot.
I was just pissed off to see such a huge fee and was wondering what is going on so I wrote about it asking others to tell me why this is happening. Later when I found out that it's not blocktrades who is taking such a huge chunk I updated the post so it isn't misleading but still got downvoted.

Well ... I sent @blocktrades $30 of my hard earned Steem Dollars (SBD) worth about $60 USD and they sent $13 USD worth of Bitcoin to me.... I paid almost $50 in fees for $13 of Bitcoin. They told me that they did not collect the fees that rather it is the "Miners" fees .... and recommended I only Exchange Litecoin or Ethereum for SBD.... Lesson Learned

Honestly, this is how Steem works. There will always be people who disagree and we need to co-exist. Currently the issue is what a downvote means. Are you steal, curating, etc.?

Looking at @blocktrades account there’s too much value there for an attack on Steem to make sense. The same can be said for @berniesanders. The problem is high value individuals fighting on Steem can lead to problems. Let’s try to keep this civil and discuss how we can improve the system to solve both groups problems?

I'm naturally skeptical about meeting people online. And that is mostly because I type more than I talk. But I wouldn't deny the fact that I have met a lot of fantastic people on other social media platforms. Some times, we should just let our intuition do its work. Being careful is never outdated.
