I used to own a comic store when much younger... I painted miniatures (not only Warhammer, also Confrontation, Ral Partha, Thunderbolt, Mithril) and also collected cards. I made the full collections of Lord of the Rings, Dragons, and of course all white and green from Magic The Gathering (including cards that are super expensive now) But I left all behind (some traumatic moving) and then I felt so depressed knowing their value. I still have the full collection of cards from The Dark Crystal and a few rarities... But I rather to keep myself out of playing for a long while now. I have never played a videogame, I played lots of rpg (board and role games on a table). Still very geeky, scifi-fantasy lover but milder case... I try to stay geeky through my music and illustrations too. My brother in law is also very geeky and he has released several fantasy board games XD released nationwide in Spain.

I have always supported several of the projects that have to do with gaming in Steemit, this is not the exception.

Unfortunately I can not pay beyond an envelope because the rest of my money I have destined for something else, but when I can I will buy more packs.

That's was less expensive than I was fearing ... having experienced the beginnings of "Magic:The Gathering"
Now because the prices are in USD, I'm tempted to wait for the STEEM price to go up before buying more ... it's currently easier to earn fiat that earn Steem hence I put a premium on Steem.

I saw this and peoples ideas are getting really close to something I have had in mind for a while but I had a few innovations that I think will set mine apart.

I have been considering platforms to build the project and ETH was the first pick due to the smart contract functionality for a DApp. The problem is we have seen what happened with CryptoKitties (recall you hopped on that as well when you did the giveaway) clogging the ETH network and I considering the rammifications of my choosing that network.

I basically will have collectibles with a XP system but think it will be best to create a hybrid decentralized / centralized approach depending on the nature of the game's computing tasks. For example, the tracking of XP grinding between player levels will be tracked through a centralized server infrastructure and, once the threshold is reached (new level reached), the information will be committed to the blockchain along with upgraded stats of said character. This will reduce the frequency of transactions and minimize overloading the network.

Anyways, I gave the Steem Monsters post a quick look and my happening to randomly receive 5 packs may be the impetus enough to get started.

Solid effort @berniesanders - as soon as I saw the Steem Monsters concept, I immediately went and invested some Steem into a few packets. Admittedly my pockets are a little less swollen because I've yet to achieve any kind of success to allow me to afford that many packs for the moment.

It is a great achievement to complete those cards. I have only 3 epics and 3 legendaries. I am hoping i could complete them before the start of the tournament or if not i'm close to collecting them all so when the trading is up, i will be trading my duplicates to get cards that i don't have yet. I am a magic the gathering card player, played pokemon and heartstone as well. I am sure that this game will be addicting which i totally supports since it really interest me.

Definitely, an interesting concept that I would like to keep my eyes on. The fact CryptoKitties somewhat went mainstream but at the same time causing lots of problem for Ethereum Network. Interested seeing Steem being used like this, spend already couple of hours thinking of how I should get myself involved in this. Definitely, a good time to get yourself a good deck if the game turns out to be a success

I may tinker with this, and thanks for voicing your support for the idea. I hope some devs out there who want to get paid see this and tinker around. Just looking at the custom_json, it's clear to me each card starts with a number 1, 2, 3 etc so it should be easy to figure these things out just by querying the blockchain data.

I'm busy all weekend with the family (doing a lake house thing with some friends), or I'd be playing with this right now. :) If someone doesn't get to it before next week, maybe I can take a closer look.

@berniesanders Congratulations on getting there first, I just brought $20 sbd worth of cards, the whole concept looks exciting and I hope we are able to sell this later at some point, for that to happen we will have promote this and I think something like a referral will be cool. So much excited to back at Steemit again, I almost left this portal hearing weird crypto predictions and rewards looting, now that they are leaving for looting more money, I think this place will be better.
