I spent the evening last night watching my niece graduate from high school and I just realized this morning that only leaves two nephews and a niece left that I will get to attend one of these. Thankfully, they still have a bit of time, but I know in the back of my head the day will come sooner than I expect. I was trying to think back to my high school graduation and while it was so long ago, there are still some details I can pick out from that day many many years ago.
I turn another year older this weekend. It's actually one of the big ones, and honestly, I still feel the same level of oblivious I was back when I was graduated from high school. Sure, I'm older, and though I feel a little more mature, I still feel like I don't understand much of anything. I'm far more cynical than I used to be which is sad, but I guess that's just the way the world works.
BTC took a pretty big dive over the past couple of weeks. Which basically sucks, but at this point I feel like it's just par for the course. Meanwhile, HIVE took a dump back down into the sub $.06 range which is basically miserable. If you are the sort of person who follows LEO, that is in the dumps too. I don't really know if that one is ever going to recover and I kind of feel like the team doesn't care now that they have moved on to their new stuff. In truth, I haven't paid much attention, so don't quote me on that one.
In all, I feel like my traditional investments are the highlight of my life right now. At least fiscally. They seem to be chugging right along, but I still feel like there is a point in the future where the bottom is going to drop out. I've been seeing people reposting stuff about the US President saying he is ushering in a new era of crypto for the US, but so far I am not seeing it. Are you?
Maybe it's just best to eat away my misery over all of this. Truth be told, that was a dang good burger and the onion rings were on point although a little soggy because I didn't pick them up as quickly as I wanted to.
Prolific
I'd never heard of this survey platform before, but a guy reached out to me from a group I am in the other day and said he had some access codes. He explained that normally you have to wait a long time to get access, so I figured why not give it a shot.
I've been using it for about a week so far and I have already banked up about $60 in rewards. Which really isn't that great, but if you break it down even further into the amount of time I have invested in the platform, it's not quite so bad. It's still not great, and it has me reflecting a little bit on these little side hustles I keep doing for pennies (HIVE excluded).
I guess I keep hoping that one day if I have enough streams it will actually amount to something, but I'm really not sure how accurate that is. At the very least it keeps me busy I guess.
Splinterlands
So I started earning yet another currency in Splinterlands called "Sparks" or something like that. I was hoping they might actually be something useful, but it turns out you just use them for cosmetic things. Which isn't really my cup of tea, but I guess there is a big market for that sort of thing. In fact, I have recently been playing Diablo IV quite a bit and they also have their own in game currency for cosmetic stuff, so I guess it's not that odd that the Splinterlands team would implement something like that.
I'll likely just let my Sparks sit, I don't really have any use for most of the cosmetic stuff. It's not that it isn't cool, I guess I just don't care... :)
Did I mention the onion rings were amazing too? Hand breaded even!
That Birthday thing...
So I was thinking about the #silvergoldstackers community and I was trying to figure out if there is a precious metal associated with my 50th birthday. I was thinking gold since a silver anniversary is 25 years and a gold anniversary is 50 years, but it appears that doesn't track.
It's different for birthdays I guess, and according to Google a golden birthday is when you turn the same age as the day of the month you were born. My 20's and 30's are long behind, me so I guess that isn't the case this year either.
Going even further, did you know that your platinum birthday is when you turn the same age as the last two digits of the year you were born? Thankfully, my 70's are still a bit ahead of me, and hopefully I make it far enough to see my platinum birthday, but that doesn't really fit for this year either.
So I guess I've got nothing.
Finally, we got our latest energy report from the power company the other day. As you can see, we continue to do quite well with our power usage, though this is the first month in a while where the efficient homes are doing a bit better than us. Typically we are doing better than efficient homes even though our house is anything but.
It makes me wonder how much of a difference getting new windows might make as I alluded to earlier in the week. I reached out to "my guy" the other day and once he gets over and takes some measurements, he will write up a quote for me. I also had "the talk" with @mrsbozz about how running new flooring into the bathroom would basically mean a full remodel of the bathroom and she seemed to be okay skipping that room for now.
So it looks like one way or another a loan is going to be in my future.
