Price predictions are generally a joke. Might as well go to a fortune teller and ask her what the price of Steem is going to be.

That said, Steem is a technologically solid token because of the amount of transactions it can process per second. The Steemit platform also ensures that it has a solid use case as long as the token remains valuable.

Great to hear that STEEM appears to be delinked from Bitcoin price movements. That would make STEEM a more resilient token that will succeed on it's own merits. Price predictions for STEEM are great over a couple of beers; but in reality nobody can predict future prices for any token. You can state a price - but you cannot predict it.

I find it pretty easy to understand how crypto works. Soon, it's widespread adoption will likely make us all wealthy, because we were there at the beginning. New to steem! I still believe that bitcoin have an important influence. Here is the Steem price and the Bitcoin price superposed. The correlation coefficient between those 2 is 72% starting from January 1st 2017 up to today. One note, the sudden spike at the beginning of this year is very interesting. Would like to know what happen!

Many cryptos have that spike late dec?
Bitcoin lost 50% of its market mid dec to jan, causing many other cryptos to spike it can all be seen directly in the dominace charts.

When bitcoin kept loosing and we had a 160 billion market cap increase or 35% between 22-23 dec many cheap cryptos went crazy, the money had to go some where :) then back down again with the market moves!

If the next hardfork makes joining easier, we could see huge gains. Also, the Smart Media Token can be another force that could drive prices higher. As a community, we need to promote steem. Our selling points can't just be about making money for posting, voting, and curating. We have sell the point that this platform doesn't censor and has a lot of utility.

No Doubt Steem, SBD and Steemit will grow... especially during the next run up. People will find (psychologically), that they were sleeping and priced out of many markets. But t have your own miner on the Steemit platform, more will come as will investors.

$50, here we come! Just one word: wow. In so many ways, this reminds me of the early days of the Internet, when Wall Street analysts were trying to predict the value of e-commerce upstarts. It was an era when it seemed like tens of millions of dollars of value were being created literally overnight. I think the long-term trajectory is up, but there will be pullbacks along the way.
