At some point in our lives, we clamour and look forward to being financially independent. At that point, we either have a job or skills through which we earn a living.
Some individuals have jobs they do from 9 am to 5 pm. Others have skills through which they earn a daily living. While some engage in full-time work, others practice the hybrid or remote job styles.
Recently, there has been an issue with job security because of the introduction of AI, Meta, and an automated way of working with tools like ChatGPT. This evolution became a major challenge in the workplace.
Internationally, some companies downsized, the most hit being the supply chain and airline operations. This is because they employed robots and other automation tools to deliver services that humans used to deliver. It also brought pain to some individuals who neglected upgrading their skills to keep pace with the trend.
However, that shake-up favoured individuals who have acquired data analytics and automation skills and blessed them with mouth-watering remote opportunities. Looking at the rate of technological advancement, such as AI and other Meta tools, one will be tempted to ask; will my job exist in the next ten years.
I have been in my professional career for over twelve years, navigating and exceeding organisational goals. But one thing that kept me going was upgrading and aligning myself with trends to remain relevant in my career field. Everyone needs to learn and unlearn. Acquire new skills and stay alive with current developments in the job market.
For example, when the need to always contact a business analyst in my organisation was costing us a lot, I volunteered to be trained. That training and certification have made me a valuable asset to date.

Today, with data analytics and AI dominating the workplace, I joined the trend and am currently enjoying my training. As individuals, as we keep upgrading our skills and competencies in our different career fields, the odds will always be in our favour.
This is because we have taken care of the future today by acquiring skills for futuristic needs. We plan today so that we do not fail tomorrow.
