Growing up,I never had my birthday celebrated, until I was 12. It was the best surprise I had ever experienced in my life.The best part of the celebration and the party was the chocolate cake,my mom baked for me,had to hide some for my self for tomorrow.

Thank you for a nice story. It's a little sad, because you didn't have a birthday party until you were 12, but then it's happy because you did! My birthday is late in the year and I am the youngest in the family. It seemed like every year, everyone had birthday celebrations but me. Then one year, my mom made a Mickey Mouse cake for me and had a surprise party! Thanks for helping me recall a good memory. !helios !hivebits

I really like this. Despite the short word count, there is a lot of emotion and drama that occurs. I was sad for the speaker (I don't assume it is autobiographical), but also curious about why he didn't have celebrations for his birthdays before 12. Then, I was happy he had one, but wondered why he had to hide cake for himself. So, that is what I mean by emotion and drama. And suspense.
