Preface: This is my opinion. If you don't like it, I don't care.

Modern western society is broken, many factors contribute to this but I personally believe it can be traced to a few key things. The demonization of classic masculinity is one and has increasingly cast shadows and negative light over men and masculinity in the United States and all of Western Society.

The term Toxic Masculinity is nebulous at best. The definition goes something like this, Toxic Masculinity is defined by adherence to traditional male gender roles that restrict the kinds of emotions allowable for boys and men to express, including social expectations that men seek to be the dominant "alpha male" and limit their emotional range primarily to expressions of anger.

Now, lets start by breaking down this definition slowly. "Adherence to traditional male gender roles" implies that these roles were somehow arbitrarily created and somehow have no value in modern society. The reality of the matter is traditional gender roles are not "adhered to" but are in fact ingrained in our DNA through years of survival and evolution. In the early days, men had to be aggressive, assertive and decisive if they wanted their offspring and mating partners to survive. Weak men did not survive nor did their offspring if they even had any. These people were not adhering to anything other than basic human survival. These traits are in no way chosen, they evolved for basic self preservation.

Now, the second part of this definition says "roles that restrict the kinds of emotions allowable for boys and men to express". Classic masculinity in no way restricts men's emotions. Men experience a broad range of emotions and classic masculinity encourages and allows men to be open and honest with their emotions, always. Good men are honest with their intentions, calm under fire and reasonable in the face of conflict. Instead of narrowing down problems like rape and domestic violence to the source of the individual case the blame is blanketed with "toxic masculinity". A few men do evil things but that is in no way justification to label masculinity, the very thing that makes men men, toxic. This idea is a pathological one at best.

The final part of this odious definition "including social expectations that men seek to be dominant (the "alpha male") and limit their emotional range primarily to expressions of anger" shows a gross misunderstanding of what an "alpha male" actually is. Alpha males are decisive, centered, calm, rational and disciplined. Being violent or angry constantly is an expression of emotionally weak, confused and usually broken men.

This blanket demonization of men has created horrible results within society. There are countless young women who thanks to modern feminism, would rather lambaste average men over speculative nonsense instead of trying to get to know them and see what they are actually like. The media constantly makes men out to be some kind of idiots or malevolent beings without much in between, where most men lie. Young men are checking out of society and retreating into themselves, choosing things like video games over courtship or traditional family rearing. and career building. Testosterone levels are dropping, skinny weak men are becoming the norm and frankly, I have had it.

As conscious citizens we should not be allowing this assault on men and relationships in general, to continue.
