All Roads Leads To Rome...

Me and my wife (@annester) took on photography and purchased a Canon EOS Rebel T6 for Christmas. Now that we are travelling we are realizing how it was one of the best investment of our life.

We had a wonderful time in Rome, a short 3 days to eat great food and visit the birthplace of what we know as Christendom and Western Civilization. It is truly indescribable how it feels to walk in history.

Here is a short journey in pictures of our trip to Rome.

The Colosseum and the Roman Ruins

The Cross of the Colosseum

>There were many different types of executions in the Colosseum. Christian Martyrs were executed as common criminals by crucifixion or "damnatio ad bestia" (thrown to the wild beasts). The vicious and cruel emperors and Romans delighted in even more novel ways of executing Christian Martyrs. The Emperor Nero introduced twilight executions where hapless Christians were nailed to the cross and burned alive as torches to light the arena of the Colosseum.

Now stands a cross in memory to this incredible time in history.

Like I said in my previous post, we made the mistake to come on Sunday...which meant that we were not able to visit the Sistine Chapel...still our visit of the St Peter's Basilica and the dome was worth the be taken slowly. Below are some of the picture we took. At time, the architecture was just so much that we felt a sensory overloaded by the cheer amount of beauty and art.

The Altar of St Peter's

The View From The Top

To be honest, climbing to the top of St Peter's Basilica was nerve racking but what an amazing experience! The view was just incredible. No words or pictures can describe the feeling.

Conclusion

Mehn Italy is really a beautiful place from what I can see in your pictures and the camera uses is really high Tech.

Italy is one country I would love to pay a visit before I die though coz I have heard alot about it and really love to be there. It's not gonna be anytime soon although as I don't have the means to now but I know someday I will.

First of all I just followed @annester! I didn't know your wife is in STEEMIT platform until I read this article.
Second, I want to tell you, this is pretty amazing photography! The ancient world, the civilization of Rome, I never see such closely before!

hmmm, Rome ... I've been there ones when I was in Napels for a week and took a daytrip to Rome. So TOTALLY worth it.

The Colosseum and the Vatican were two of my most forward looked stops as well and they're everybit as breathtaking as one would think.

I agree with the sensory overload in St. Peters .. but MAN is that place awesome ... the climb of the dome is really something as well on the narrow staircases and the inside of the dome. The resulting vista though is so worth it.

I really hope to go back some day and do a 3 day trip. There's just to much to see in Rome to be captured in a single day.

Rome is one of the greatest city in the world...but i havent seen any steemian from rome.......i love the buildings..even the ones you posted...it is a better place to be.......hope you and your wife had the greatest fun and enjoyment. .i know the short three days you used will be like three years due to the enjoyment..i am not happy with the rate of execution of people in colosseum,the christian martyr being burnt alive..it is very bad.

Rookie error to go to the Vatican on a Sunday :)
For me, the most amazing/surprising part of my experience at the Vatican is the fact that there's a little town on the roof top with a cafe and souvenir shop. Amazing haha.

Does it modern memorial to those christians who were killed there? Or it's from 3 - 4 CE when christianity got fame? Yes, I found out description

Pompeii!!... I've watched a movie named pompeii where everyone in the region was killed by a volcanic eruption. I thought Pompeii was an imaginary place never knew it actually existed.

My wife just got our first decent camera now that we had a baby. We were looking at the Canon Rebel T6 but ended up going with the Nikon D3400. How is the Canon working out for you so far?

I can say I definitely notice the difference between the old smart phone and our Nikon at least :)

Such clear photos with really vibrant colours. We were in Rome last year and hubby took his Canon EOS 1200D and either he doesnt have the skill or your camera was a much better choice. When we were there they were building a railway line right next to the colosseum - has that been completed?

That's a lovely record of what looks like a genuinely wonderful trip. Through being friends with so many brilliant photographers (@aweber, @yumyumseth and @jrue in particular) my wife and I have come to realize how terrible we are at recording our lives. If we remember to keep any evidence of our activities at all, it's normally a smudgy cellphone shot, which prompts a memory, but has no aesthetic worth past that. It's certainly something I'm thinking of more intentionally, now.

Italy is a wonderful country. The history there is amazing. It is mind-blowing to see something that is thousands of years hold. Being in the US, something that is a couple hundred is considered historic.

Latter last year, me and my friends made a trip to Milan, it was amazing, but Rome and a lot of the cities in Italy are amazing, so we are already considering making a new trip. We are thinking on going to Netherlands
and try a new culture or go back to Italy and explore a new city.

I think it is simply beautiful that it has so much history and that each country has its history, but Europe has another history, it is emblematic, artistic, romantic, ecclesiastical and simply captivating.
I congratulate you for your trip and for your excellent photos.

Capturing these photos of the basilica I know that its impacting architecture and being in the coliseum says a lot about the Christian martyrs. And simply Italy has to make you live unique moments and a good tiramisu must be a must.

Hi @cryptoctopus, wow Rome was indeed a bucket list for everyone. That new camera sure an awesome choice. These type of photos most definitely qualified for the photofeed tag. I have visited your wife's page and followed, all in all it is such a loving page, can feel the love in the air. She is for sure such a loving wife and mom. I am really happy for both of you. With the baby coming, I think both of you will be busy with your new born daughter for at least a year before things ease out, I would guess the first year will be the toughest one. Nice pictures. Have you guys been to the vatican museums? If you are a fan of art or culture, this is a must seen, with the most impressive of any museum it just fascinated me there. Rome is beautiful as a city but the tourist masses are just overwhelming. We went there with a youth group and always had to wait hours in queues to enter sights like the colosseum
