Owk blockchan seems like a very good project to me but like you said, for them to have a good userbase, they must have to be able to do things differently from whatsbon ground now. People have been making suggestions of late and I really do hope they pick those suggestions and incorporate it into blockchan else it would just be yet another app begging for recognition.

They havnt really done any formnof advertising as you are the one doing it for them at the moment with this post. I am pretty sure so many people are hearing about them for the very first time just like me. So they really do need to come up with enough publicity if they want a good userbase as well.

I think, Blockchain is the modern medium of the future generation. Through this network, every work with very security. Because of this the demand of the blockchain network is increasing day by day. Hopefully, the blockchain network will launch another better system.

That was a very measured review Madam or Sir ! LIke you say, it's going to need something exciting and different but I can't personally imagine how that could be so. There are a million improvements to be made on the Steemit front end but I think Steem inc seem to be leaving it to independant developers to move the social media side apps forward, with mixed results, but all I can say about blockchan is that it will need to give the user a professional top end experience, possibly an integration of the parts of the Steemit experience.
Just something else to wait for, but my breath won't be too baited !

The more front-ends we have, I believe the better the steemit community gets. It's good to have such an innovation. Good job to the developers while we still watching see what exactly they are up to and what improvements their platform brings.

Only real innovation will make this new platform helpful for new users. First they should conduct a survey by the steemit people so that they can have an idea what is just missing now and they can improve and add those features now.

Thx for this noticing this new project. I don't check steemprojects each day.. I started in june 2017 and to see what is available now compared to that time it is amazing.. In about one year we will double again..

I like the name, but I'm not sure it has anything to do with 4chan, as others have suggested in the comments here. I think it's just blockchain with the i dropped - and "chan" then being short for channel. But hey, I could be wrong :)

There are so many unique ways we could develop dapps on Steem without just copying what's already out there (i.e. Steemit a copy of Reddit, Zappl a copy of Twitter, Appics a copy of Instagram).

Why not come up with something new? Even by taking a little from platform A, and a little from platform B, you could still come up with something unique. Make something which is great in itself, without having to rely on "you can make money here" as the main selling point.

I don't know why anyone would want to build a social media platform based on blockchain.

I feel like this comes under the category 'blockchain everything'. I don't really see any reason why you would want to build one based on blockchain.

Social media is about now, and should be really fast and responsive. It's irrelevant who agreed with or retweeted my content 5 years ago so why should it be stored in a big ledger. In terms of connections you could have a look at the transactions on the bitcoin blockchain and infer some relationships from there, but that's not really a social network.

It would maybe make sense to have identity on the blockchain and integrate that with a social media platform but i don't think anyone has any need to go above that.

Using blockchain for a social media platform would be like using a chain saw to cut your salami slices.

As far as i know, nobody is even considering doing it and i don't think it is going to ever be done because it's not a good technological match.

The more apps that are built on steemit the more competition within the ecosystem. i feel which is kind of good as it will force developers to fix little niggles and make their own apps even better than they are.

To me, this is the vital aspect that requires watching. Price action means little. Yes we all love when STEEM runs to the moon but hysteria never wins in the end.

We are at such an early stage that these projects are crucial. Not all will succeed. That is why there requires a ton of development to keep pushing things forward. As more people come online, there will be more applications to interest them. This is going to be crucial for keeping people.

I do not know what it entails, but I hope someone is working on an app with some features similar to facebook. While I dont use it (nor care about it) many do. It would be amazing to see SteemBook on here.

If blockchan is a decentralized front end, that will be something.
But, it is unclear if they meant their piece will be decentralized, or if they are meaning steem is already decentralized.

@cryptoctopus I am glad that more platforms are being built on this blockchain. This will increase user interaction and consequently increase value.
First off, the name is quite intriguing. I hope the project itself is.
I literally sat to think of what they could offer to the steem blockchain, even did a little googling. Nothing came up.
Steemit and Busy already has writing and blogging covered. Steepshot, photography.
Dlive and Dtube - streaming and videos respectively.
Not including the tons of not so popular platforms with various things to offer.

I hope blockchan has something unique and intriguing to increase the interactions on the steem blockchain and keep users captivated.
Unless that happens, they'll just be added to the not so popular bunch.

I agree with your assessment @cryptoctopus. There are starting to be a lot more spinoffs and I think it is partly due to post reward distributions. The forks get a portion of the author's post rewards such as dmania, dtube, and so on. If I understand this correctly I am assuming this new blockchan has something similar. Thanks.

Not sure about the name - Blockchan. Any insight into why they chose this name? I quickly glanced over it and read "blockchain", maybe that was the intention, but otherwise it just sounds like a Chinese-knockoff.

Have you heard about one called "Civil"? They're offering some reward in the form of ETH but it does seem like a Steemit copycat to me.

I hope they make something really different. I think that untill now all the front-ends are very close to each other...

I checked the link showing every front end and there are a LOT! I didn't knew about the majority of them.

It will be harder and harder for new projects like this to find success, but competition is always good right?

If this ends up being similar to 4chan like another user commented, then in that case I would bet this will be successful.

Either way, I will be waiting to see what can this new project offer to the steem community.
