Indeed there are so many projects, advocacy and charities going on and I would like to highlight several community building initiatives that I am part of.

1.I am part of @steemitfamilyph which we lovingly refer to as Ohana and we started with 10 active people last October and we have ballooned to over 400 individuals this January.
Our aim is to help guide and mentor new people joining Steemit and give them that small boost in confidence to be able to write their own unique stories, poems, photographs and projects. To be able to put out good content without the need to follow the trends.
Steemit is filled with the endless daily challenges and although fundamentally there is nothing wrong but it could be better. We could be reading about stuff they care and passionate about.
We have no big delegation nor do we have a whale trailing us but we have doing the best we can to help each one grow to be good members of the Steem Community. Not that we don't need it in fact we tried to get delegation and I wrote it on this little piece that landed in the top 10 in over 150 entries but unfortunately only had 4 delegations.
A Role Model Steemian | The most basic reason WHY
We recently published our almost 30 days of curation and how the votes were distributed
Curation Update of @steemitfamilyph
We have featured about 140 different artictles in the past 28 days and giving 169 unique votes to various individuals. The first 30 days of a redfish is critical. They come full of hope that they can earn. First lesson we teach them. It is not easy and that they need to work on good content to get recognition. Nothing dissuades a person faster than putting their best effort and see zeroes in their post. So we try our best to spread the votes but vote more generously in good content.
Our full 100% upvote is only 28 cents for now because of some of the delegations we voluntary gave it and all efforts are done to continue powering it up. If you would vote trail Ohana you would be touching and making a difference on a lot of people's lives. They can continue on creating good content.

2.Due to my work in Ohana I was invited to be part of the @promo-mentors community which was created by @futurethinker. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to him as he was the first person that nominated me for a curie vote that changed my life and outlook of Steemit.
It is the aim of Promo-mentors to create a community that will bridge the gap of mentoring, guiding and discovering hidden talent. A lot of the mentors and scouts are also part of major curation guilds like Curie, SteemSTEM and OCD so good content is what we are after.
It's massive to the morale of someone when their post gets that much sought after curation vote. Yet of course not all are sent to those guilds but nevertheless they receive a community vote from us called an Encouragement Boost. It's a way for us to push them along and try to make them better.
We give work shops on mark down guidelines, formating, best way to build followers and getting votes organically and most important is to make them feel they belong.
Here is a little video to show what we do.

3.Steemit as a tool for education. Both Ohana @steemitfamilyph and @promo-mentors are both supporting the initiative of Steemit Academy Laguna -These are a group of teachers who are bring Steemit to Highschool Students to spark their creativity and get them involved in cryptocurrency and the blockchain early on.
Let's face it the blockchain technology will be mainstream in a couple of years and will make a huge change like when the internet was introduced. This is a good way for us to create early adopters amongst the youth. What better way is it by being exposed to Steemit.
Here are some of the milestones they have done the past couple of days.
FINALLY!! STEEMIT WAS INTRODUCED TO MY 60 STUDENTS AS A PLATFORM OF EDUCATION
My 10 leading students finally signed up for steemit...

4.Lastly is a charity organization that I have been a part of for the past 11 years. We are committed to provide school supplies, books, medicine to about 100 or more children of an indigenous tribe called Aeta's in Banawen, Zambales in the Philippines.
This would be our first foray in the digital crowdfunding. We have existed for the past 11 years getting donations from family, friends and co workers. 2 years ago we were able to get funding from a company through their Corporate Social Responsibility Program and it has made us able to help them more.
The school was established 2007 but never had anyone graduate gradeschool. Most kids at the most would only reach Grade 2-3 and then the realities of living a subsistence lifestyle kicks in and they would need to work to eat.
Life is hard and they were hardly educated so not a lot of options for them. We adopted the school 3 years ago and we were able to help give the school their first 6 kids who graduated gradeschool and is currently studying highschool in the city.
Our aim here is create an account for them and make use of the GIFTECONOMY system of Steem to create a better life for them. I have seen a lot of charities being run on individual accounts and I am not really judging some individuals because some seem genuine but a lot more I see as just as a means of powering up their accounts and gain some influence.
Besides I see this as a long term plan that I would eventually turn over the created account to the Aeta community and they can manage and share their songs, their culture, their stories their dances and their history.
It is not just for the Aeta's but for most indigenous tribes in the world that their culture is fast disappearing.
It is my hope that the Steem Blockchain will be able to save the remaining culture the Aetas have and will always exist in the blockchain.
For more information on what we do I have the following articles.
Promoting Steem to Gift in Kind Foundation| Our first step to modern fund raising
Gift In Kind T-Shirt Logo Design Contest | 8 SBD Prize! Extended till Feb 14!
Those are the 4 projects that I am currently involved and each one is about guiding, mentoring, retaining and rewarding people who will create good content in Steem. It is about making a difference in their lives and making the adoption of blockchain technology easier.
You start with a good word of mouth in promoting Steem as easily understandable, that it is working and that it has a thring GIFTECONOMY system that will change lives. Schools are a good place to start as the young will eventually be the ones to really make use and even make the Steem Blockchain better. Early adopters would be successful and make a difference in world.
Using the Steem Blockchain in Charity humanizes the blockchain and makes people see the beauty of Steem of how it can transform a liitle barrio from nowhere into a thriving community. More than a means of receiving gifts and donations Steemit would be a way for the Aetas to record their culture in the blockchain ensuring that future generations will be able to look for it and see that their culture has not fully disappeared.
The blockchain is the future and we will be part of those that trailblazed and make a difference in a lot of people's lives.
I hope that you will be able to choose some but I am hoping all of these endeavors. Be the difference in these peoples lives.
