Asides being a lawyer,i am also a fashion designer.i am passionate about it and i intend writing a bit on what i have i learnt in the course of making dresses for a year.
In preparing dresses/wears,there are basic things to look out for......
1.Determine the basic shape of the individual
a.An apple shape:can wear A line,ballgown.
b.A pear Shape:can wear trumpet or ballgown
c.An hourglass:can wear mermaid,sheath gown
d.petite Body:can wear sheath,mermaid.
2.choose your fabric:select materials that will work for the style.most times i basically try out dresses on multiple fabrics example chiffon and ankara, jean and organza or silk on ankara as seen below[IMAGE: https://steemitimages.com/DQmQnZK6FePvgF3JKfZysZZGHmAjGHetcMQKZ2ZewCLBiFv/IMG_20180104_160426.jpg].
3.choose a colour that fits the individuals complexion:This is very important.
Chocolate needs bright colours eg lightpink, burgundy, cream etc.
This colour blended well [IMAGE: https://steemitimages.com/DQmd45oJZtYRBuFiCT3McPLSDMybn2muAEftbr5ufr1u3XU/IMG_20180309_085407.jpg]
4.sketch what you want your dress to look like, both front and back.sketch all details including the accessories.
5.Height.. Short people should not wear certain clothes to avoid a fashion disaster eg tea-length dresses, full ball gowns.
To all aspiring/fashion designers ,hope you found this piece educative...
Thanks.
