Charlie no podía dormir después de aquella noticia que le dieron, ya que imaginaba el enorme escenario, las luces y muchas personas observándolo tocar el banjo. En ese mismo momento su abuelo le preguntó —¿Nervioso? — y Charlie en voz baja respondió —¿Y si me equivoco? ¿Y si todos esperan demasiado de mí?, algo que para este niño era todo nuevo y su abuelo con muchos años de experiencia le contestó —Los grandes músicos no son los que nunca fallan, son los que nunca dejan de tocar después de fallar—

Desde ese día comenzó la preparación y todas las tardes, después de la escuela, Charlie y su abuelo practicaban juntos en el viejo salón durante largas horas y lo mejor es que el abuelo le enseñó algo nuevo cada día. Desde el comienzo le enseñó paciencia, ya que cada canción tiene su tiempo, mientras que otro día le enseñó disciplina, pero la constancia te mantiene dentro de todo ese mundo de la música. Con todo eso poco a poco, Charlie dejó de tocar solo con las manos y comenzó a tocar con el corazón.

Another day he taught him discipline, but perseverance is what keeps you going in the world of music. With all of this, little by little, Charlie stopped playing just with his hands and began to play with his heart.

Las semanas pasaron rápidamente y toda la escuela seguía atento de Charlie, además todos los estudiantes hicieron carteles y todo el mundo le pedía una canción. Hasta que la directora reunió a todos en el auditorio, algo que muy poco se hacía, sin embargo, sobre la mesa había un nuevo banjo de color negro y tenía grabadas pequeñas notas musicales.

Charlie se quedó sin palabras y sus manos temblaron mientras sostenía el nuevo banjo, además uno de los profesores apareció con otro regalo y dentro había un uniforme negro con detalles dorados, perfectamente de su medida y cuando Charlie lo vio, no pudo contener las lágrimas y dijo —Parezco un músico de verdad —

Los días siguientes estuvieron llenos de ensayos y Charlie practicaba hasta que los dedos le dolían, pero ya no se rendía tan fácilmente, donde ahora se volvió más fuerte y cada error que cometía se convertía en aprendizaje, además le sirvió para ser más valiente cuando este frente a un gran público, aprendió humildad, a confiar en sí mismo y lo más importante que la música no era para demostrar que era mejor que otros, sino para unir corazones.

>The weeks passed quickly, and the whole school remained focused on Charlie. All the students made posters, and everyone asked him to sing. Finally, the headmistress gathered everyone in the auditorium, something that was rarely done. On the table was a new black banjo, engraved with small musical notes.

>Charlie was speechless, his hands trembling as he held the new banjo. Then, one of the teachers appeared with another gift: a black uniform with gold details, perfectly sized for him. When Charlie saw it, he couldn't hold back his tears and said, "I look like a real musician!"

Finalmente, llegó el gran día y ese teatro regional estaba lleno de personas, muchas luces iluminaban el escenario y a la vez una gran cantidad de niños y niñas quienes afinaban sus instrumentos detrás del escenario. Allí estaba Charlie con nervios y sentía cómo sus piernas temblaban, sin embargo, miró a su abuelo y con una sonrisa dijo —Solo disfruta cada nota—

Charlie respiró y caminó hacia el escenario con su nuevo uniforme, sosteniendo el banjo mientras el público comenzaba a aplaudir, luego de unos segundos apareció el silencio y justo cuando colocó sus dedos sobre las cuerdas, comprendió que aquel pequeño niño que un día tocaba solo en un salón, estaba a punto de vivir el momento más importante de toda su vida.

>Finally, the big day arrived, and the regional theater was packed. Many lights illuminated the stage, while a large group of children tuned their instruments backstage. There stood Charlie, nervous and feeling his legs tremble. He glanced at his grandfather and, with a smile, said, "Just enjoy every note."

>Charlie took a breath and walked to the stage in his new uniform, holding his banjo as the audience began to applaud. After a few seconds, silence fell, and just as his fingers touched the strings, he understood that the little boy who had once played alone in a classroom was about to experience the most important moment of his life.
