Battle Mage Secrets: Back To Basics
Back To Basics is a ruleset where all the monsters will lose their abilities but the summoner abilities are still active. With this ruleset, the melee monster is weak as it can't attack when it is not in the first position. So the best cards for this ruleset are magic and range.

Using Yodin Zaku I suggest choosing those ranged monster with high speed and adding a tank like the Fineas Rage which have 6 speeds and 11 health. Mostly Yodin Zaku is best when the mana cap is more than 20. I suggest using the pelacor bandit as a tank and then adding magic monster or you can add a range monster with higher health.

I can use Bortus to counter the obsidian since Bortus can reduce 1 magic attack to all my opponent's monsters. But instead of choosing in +1 or -1 Magic Attacks, I pick Lorna Shine because of the Divine Shield Ability. # My Team ##### Summoner Lorna Shine: All friendly monsters receive the divine shield ability at the start of the battle. Divine shield ability: The first time the Monster takes damage it is ignored ##### Monsters Dax Paragon: For only 15 mana cap, I choose Dax Paragon it only consumes 2 mana and it already has 5 health that will be good as a tank plus the 2 magic damage. Time Mage: It has 3 magic damage and 5 speed which is good that this monster might attack first in the battle Magic of Chaos: I placed this card in to last position because these cards has the highest magic attacks. It have 4 magic attacks, 7 health, and 2 speed.
Round 1
- My opponent use Obsidian with Regal Peryton as a tank which is best because it has 7 speed so my monster attack might miss.
- Since the Regal Peryton have 7 speed, this card is the first one that releases the magic attack but my monster has the Divine Shield ability so the 4 magic attacks of Regal Peryton are ignored but it will still take 1 health because of the cripple ruleset.
- Dax Paragon was down in round 1 because of the 5 magic damage of my opponent's Magic of Chaos.
- Regal Peryton is down too since the total magic damage of my cards is 9 magic damage and the Regal Peryton only has 8 health.
Round 2
- In Round 2 Time Mage will attack first because it has 5 speed.
- My opponent Magic of Chaos is down without even taking a chance to attack my Time mage.

- Even if my opponent has the advantage in Magic Attacks I still win because of the Divine Shield Ability. Choosing your summoner is the key to win in this ruleset. No matter how much damage your monster can deal if it can't attack it's useless.
- Melee Monsters is weak in this ruleset unless when the ruleset is also combined with Melee Mayhem. Melee Mayhem is a ruleset that all Melee monster's can attack from any position.
