There are a lot of useless things and habits in this world.
Most of those things, we love to use everyday. The real question is what draws the line between what is useful and what is not? Before going into that, we have to ask ourselves, why would I want to know what @DeXvid thinks usefulness is all about? The answer could be, because everything is connected in this world. You, me, our habits, our history, our strategies, our future..
After living in different countries, I have been able to obtain a lot of information on different cultures, governments, laws and other things. After I left my country to study abroad, I found out that I had this inevitable interest in analyzing people’s priorities. I don’t know why but it was interesting for me to see that everyday drive, coming from a regular person just like me, but from another other country. People like to say that cultures make us different from each other and somehow unique. While that is true, we all tend to forget that at the end of the day, we all need to be able to afford a place where one can go to sleep. We all have way much more similarities than what we would think of.
I’ve realized that one of the most powerful weapons in the universe are the emotions. Everything revolves around them. I believe that somehow personalities are born out of emotions. That is a very important thing because personalities are the one thing that draws the line between not only what is useful and what is not to you, but between how close or far away you are from the average version of yourself.
Our mind is SO powerful that some would say it has spiritual powers. We as humans are able to believe so much in our souls and in our non-physical existence, that we are able to control many of the areas regarding our material world, just by exercising that non-physical thought. I’d like to call it one thing but it falls short to itself. It’s the combination of the power of your mind, intelligence, drive, will power, self-motivation, hopes and dreams, among other things. All of those elements make up for the fire that lives within us, giving us the opportunity to be able to get where we want to get. There's a catch though, those elements need to know if they can count on you, because if not there could be devastating results.
I’ve seen it go two different ways. I’ve seen people being haunted for life by their own thoughts of their broken hopes and dreams, and I’ve seen people that use their body as a place where they can patiently sit and watch the days go by until death. Both are pretty sad. At the same time, there are people who find happiness in living what some people would call an average version of what life is all about. That's because real long-lasting happiness is found after you've been able to get to know yourself. On the outside, happiness does not looks the same way on everybody, yet it sort of feels the same way on the inside.

That's me enjoying a nice view at the grafitti park in Austin.
What has struck me the most is regular people just being average. Average not by the measures of the rich, but by the measures of themselves. It has always amazed me how easy it is for some people to blame others and past situations for their present and future success. They tend to forget that the biggest help and motivation they could ever get would come from within themselves.
Personalities are powerful because they are driven by emotions. Since emotions can only be stable most of the time, we have to train our personality into uderstanding it does not depend on emotions in order to keep itself stable. That’s why we are encouraged since we are teenagers to write down in our minds the description of our personality; because we want to hold ourselves and others accountable for the stability of our sanity. That way, when things do not go as predicted, your personality helps to bring you up, or to go with the flow, depending on which personality you've decided to have.
Some might say you can’t decide on which personality you could have. Some think you’re born with your personality. I wouldn't say it is that way. I would say we are all born with tendencies. They can either be good and/or bad. Then we choose how to label ourselves with our very own personality.
It is important to divide and make sharp differences between emotions and personality, as they are the core foundations for our decision-making skills. They are the ones responsible for drawing the line between what’s useful and what’s not useful for you. We tend to forget one of the most beautiful arts that we can practice and that is, to know yourself.

Knowledge comes from the will of wanting to keep the information in your mind. It is an everyday decision we have to take when we really want to become the best version of ourselves. Our mind can be our biggest hurdle. After we take the decision of being as useful to ourselves as we can, we start noticing that every given opportunity has two sides to it. Even from bad opportunities you can grow and take something great out of it. Not because a great opportunity arises, means you have to take it. Knowing yourself gives you the power to find what’s most useful to you.
Never forget the power that lies within the self-exploration. Never stop looking into yourself and being your best critic. You’ll find that nobody is able to have the ability to love you more than what you could love yourself. Become the most useful person for yourself and for others. Acquire all of the things that you find are useful to the best version of yourself.
Think realistically on the future but never forget to enjoy the present as much as possible.
