Whenever people talk about the coming singularity it seems to be something very far in the future. Recently I lost my phone and I had to go for a few days without a smartphone. That's when I realised that a weak form of the singularity is already here. I could miss my phone. I realised I had created a strong bond with my phone not only because I sacrificed money to buy it. A smart phone holds a lot of personal secrets and information to the extent that it is some form of an extended version of the person that you are.

While we look forward to the holy grail of technology where the singularity becomes a reality, we should also take cognizant of the weak form of singularity that exists today
