The first thing that came up in my search engine (while I was looking for interesting destinations for visiting, researching and walking on the Cote d'Azur) when I asked "What to visit in Menton?" was the information "Menton is the Mediterranean city of lemons", "Great promenade" and "Stairs to the old town".
The choice was confirmed in the first description.
Why don't I take a walk around the city of lemons.

However, when I arrived in Menton, after the well-kept squares and buildings with beautiful facades, churches and casinos, the first thing I saw was the promenade by the seashore.

I took advantage of a nice and sunny day to go down to the sandy beach and check the water's warmth.

The water is still not so warm that there would be bathers on the beach, but the sun is more than strong enough to warm everyone who strips down to their bathing suits on the beach.
I didn't.

I wanted to walk trought the beautifully landscaped hotel gardens, restaurants and cafes along the beach fence and have a coffee in one of them.

There were no lemons, but at every step there were flowers of birds of paradise.

Walking further along the promenade, I come to the building, which I have already seen in some brochures about Menton.

It is a museum building Jean Cocteau Museum, designed by Rudi Ricciotti, which houses the Collection of Severin Wunderman, an American businessman, with over 1800 works related to Jean Cocteau (poet, painter, graphic artist, playwright and filmmaker).

Very interesting and recognizable architecture of the building from 2011, which suffered serious damage in the 2018 flood.

From the museum, I continue walking along the coast, looking for at least one lemon tree...
But no, there are no yellow fruits in sight.
There are no yellow lemons on the trees in the parks and the only thing that attracts attention is this red ornamental plant.

Further from the museum, we come across the market building, where you can find a variety of fruits, vegetables, fish or seafood.

From Mercadona, we enter the busiest street, where there are shops for tourists.
The only thing that confirms the story of Menton as the city of lemons are these towels or fridge magnets with lemon details...

We don't stay long in the city streets. It is very warm, so we are heading to another part of the city, from where we will, some other time, climb to the highest point of the old town, climbing the high stairs.

Today, our goal is a wide city beach, with a large Menton sign (on which, of course, there is a lemon), and a beach much nicer than the promenade.

Not wanting to sunbathe and sit on the sand, I continued my walk around the marina and passed the boats and yachts bobbing on the still water.

I also found a mini market where freshly caught fish is sold every morning (before dawn, most likely).

So, in summary for today's #wednesdaywalk, we have a beautiful city (without lemons), a beautiful promenade and promenade with gardens of cafes and restaurants, an authentic part of the city with souvenir shops for tourists, as well as beautiful beaches where you can sunbathe and cool off in the water on hot summer days.

Everything else from Menton, which I managed to see in a short time, on some next walk, some other day.
