The part of the week I most likely lookup to is my entry into the Splinterlands contest. I get to make awesome pieces and see the impressions of other artists too. One of such inspired me so much that I had to do something in that line and that was a digital piece of the Flame Mephit. I can’t remember who the artist was but the art did catch my eye. This week had a public holiday in it (yesterday) so I had time to cook up not just anything but something brilliant.

This week I broke traditional a little just like I did last month and a month before that for a number of my pieces that dealt with flames. I drew the original layout with my Red pen. I would’ve used Yellow but I knew it may become transparent after editing and I didn’t want to take that chance.

As is my tradition I usually shade the layout with Black pen as my final finish and so coloring it would be easy but I feared shading it totally might ruin the aesthetics so I left the hair almost totally untouched

The next thing I did was to shade her eyes and every other part of her costume that had Yellow of Gold on it. I also made sure that the little trinkets on her earrings were properly dotted (with green).

I shaded her top with different mixtures of green. The blend was top notch and I loved it.

You know I updated my palette some weeks ago. Sadly I was only able to get about half a dozen new colors or so and because of that I have been supplementing the skin textures of the art pieces I have been sharing with Black ink. That is what I did at this point to give the character life.

Making the hair have a flamelike texture is very interesting and though I managed to capture little of that essence I know I can do more. I first of all shades the spaces I had earlier left for the flames with my Yellow pen before layering it with Orange and later Red ink.

At this point there was nothing more to add so I touched up the little parts I could and added my signature.
