His existence was the deep dark secret that his grandmother already knew. He could tell by her disinterest when he explained how his peasant mother came to bear the rightful heir to the throne. And when the guards slowly circled him, he realised the safety that some secrets can provide.

This one was partialy inspired by one of the final episodes of one of my favorite historical C-dramas. Good stuff.
