Its great news for new investors looking to come into crypto. I aready have an account with them but i hope they dont drive new users away just like bitfinex who introduced a $10,000 minimun trade deposit for new users.

This is great news .We need more exchanges to pair alts against fiat currencies, all these alts are way to tied to BTC and it creates problems when BTC is slumping or having a string of bad news.

I was excited about the USD Trading bit when I read it! Bittrex is the man of exchanges!

If only they could lower their fees a bit too. :/ People won't stay there for long if they can pay 1/5 of Bittrex's fees almost anywhere else.

Few people will cone to peoples post and they will not read the post or vote for the writer all thry will do is to comment and wait for for someone to vote for them is it normal.

Kucoin,poloniex,and Mercator is good for non US.

Great to hear it! I'm excited for Bittrex to add USD pairs, mainly to see what type of volume it brings in. It is great to see good news in the market at the moment, amidst all of the current bad news.

Currently, I'm working on a project to increase the amount of new users coming to Steemit, as well as improve the quality of daily actvive users on the platform. We plan to do so by doing the following:

1) We run advertising campaigns for Steemit that are done professionally, to bring in more users.

2) We provide a guide for all Steemit beginners on How To succeed on Steemit (putting this together by talking to many successful Steemians about how they became successful).

3) Provide a manual curation service for 5-10 undervalued posts per day

4) Provide a bank of free graphics for all members of our incubator, and once a month give 1-2 Steemians access to a graphic designer for free. I already have a Graphic designer on board for this.

I am currently looking for any support possible for the project, in terms of advice, being pointed to the right people, and of course SP delegation. If you would be interested in helping, let me know and I can contact you on Discord or Steemit Chat.

I think what we need is an exchange that directly trades Steem for FIAT, any currency. If we don't have that; who is really getting paid here? If I want to buy Steem I have to convert Euro, dollar, BTC, to Steem. How many wallets, passwords and keys do we need to buy a Banana?

It's a good summary of what has happened or can happen at the moment. and you keep it simple, which is important for people like me - who are content creators, but who do not fully understand all the investing, up&downwards trends etc. i'm learning in order to be an independent investor. I know you are not a fortuneteller :) but... do you think that in the internal market 1 steem will continue to cost more than 1 SBD or it will come back to lower level? what indicators should i rely on? thank you again! Hi, and thank you for your nice words! As for your question. Long-term I believe STEEM to be way more valuable than SBD. So, long-term I would personally always invest in STEEM and not SBD.

Short-term is much harder to tell. We have seen some crazy pumps in the SBD out of nowhere and this can happen again or not. This is impossible to tell.

If you are unsure what to do, I would recommend selling SBD gradually for STEEM (or other crypto or fiat). Just a fixed amount per day.

This way you will establish a nice sell average. You won't have maximum profits or gains but it takes the guessing part out of the game. I hope this helps.

@exyle! thank you so much for your reply! i really appreciate that! :) I see that in general you are a fan of doing things gradually, without all this stress and tension linked to more extreme strategy! :) yes, i'm investing a lot in Steem, all my income actually.:) I have never cashed out, but i will have to at the end of February (we all have bills to pay;)), so i was wandering if i should leave some SBD or not power up all steem. But i know that it is so hard to tell, as the market changes drastically all the time... Thank you anyway! :)

I like Bittrex decision about adding USD pair.
It should make traders worry less about keeping their money in Tether (With lawsuits and other news about Bitfinex link to Tether). Because they can keep it in USD now heh.

Exchanges slowly transitioning to USD would finally solve the current Tether hysteria too and no one would fear because of another crash when USDT will go away.

Steem/USD pairs will be huge, and we will see an awesome rise in steem's price when that will happen.
I think the current price reflects more on the bottlenecks in getting steem from exchanges than the technology itself. Once people can buy steem on all major exchanges ( and with fiat) ...oh boy we should get our champagnes ready :D

I was so glad to have opened a Bittrex account back in August - just because. I had no idea then if I would use it, but since they closed registration it was good to know that it was sitting there waiting if I needed it.

The fact that they closed new registrations to work on issues for existing customers is actually a good thing longer term, it shows their commitment to their customer base and providing good service.

I see that you can actually buy Steem very simply using Bitshares. It allows you to bridge your cryptos as assets on the Bitshares exchange. Have you tried by Steem their. Please let me know what you think, because you have way more experience that I do and I just want to learn more..

Last month they weren't allowing any new accounts, now they have gone to a selection based process. It will get better for new enrollments soon.

I was looking at all my options yesterday so I checked out Binance and Coinbase. I really want to buy into Steem right now as I think its a great opportunity at $3. Sounds counter to popular belief but I really think it's going to be $20 by summer. I don't know why, but I really believe it.

Being able to use USD pairing vs BTC is a welcome change. Think this can greatly help the markets for alt coins be a little more stable and not rely so heavily on BTC's market trend.

enabling usd trading there will boost up the trading volumes which is a great positive for steem :)

I love the fact that Steem is so strong even with all the bans and regulations in China, South Korea and other countries, I'm super happy about that :D

Of course, this is a big money machine for bittrex. If you are the gatekeeper for fiat money you can bind more customers. More risk, but more profit.

Can't we just buy eth on coinbase and send it to blocktraders to be converted to STEEM? we don't actually need Bitrex... i've never actually used bitrex so what are the advantages?

I'm hoping these exchanges start taking paypal balances because its not that convenient to send cash anyways. The few ICOs i've invested in took paypal and that made a world of a difference in my decision. But yes, paypal is tied to credit cards but there is pay pal balance which I'm sure can be separated from card payments.
