THE DAY I FELL IN LOVE WITH BEANS

STORY TIME!!!

I hated beans growing up.
Anytime I saw that brown mush on my plate, I’d instantly lose appetite. My mother used to say, “One day, you’ll beg for this food.” My response was always God forbid🤣

But one rainy evening during NYSC, I was broke, hungry, and far from home. A neighbor called me in, Come and join me. I just made porridge beans.
I almost said no. But hunger said yes.😩

That first spoon was Life-changing.
Soft honey beans, cooked with palm oil, pepper, and ripe plantain.
No meat. No fish. Just flavor and warmth.

I cleaned that plate like someone that never hated beans.
Since then, I don’t joke with beans. Sometimes, love just takes time.😂
