Introduction

Parenting is one of the most difficult tasks anyone could take up. A lot has gone wrong with society and those things definitely affect child behavior in the family. Hence, some parents really struggle to get to terms with how their child or children is behaving. There are many things that influence children negatively and these make the work of parents a lot more difficult. Consider the following:

1. The Media: The media is awash with lots of negativity. It is really difficult to watch television programs without seeing reports of crime in many places. Violence has become common place and kids feed their mind on all these things. Also, the media equates success with wealth and material things. They actually want to make viewers believe that more is better and that they cannot be happy with less. When our kids are exposed to this this kind of deception, values are misplaced and parents then struggle with erasing wrong things that have been planted in the mind of kids by the media.

2. Peer Pressure: The influence of fellow kids can be really overwhelming. Peer pressure make kids do things they do wished they never did. In a bid to be accepted by peers, kids end up smoking, taking drugs, engaging in dangerous activities and other things. Unfortunately, some children spend more time with friends than with family. As such, they are quick to absorb bad conduct, and this also makes parenting difficult.

3. Divorce: It is really sad to note that lots of marriages today end up in divorce. Single parent families is on the increase. Parenting is really difficult for both parents. Now imagine how easy it would be for a single parent to handle. Especially in a home where the surviving parent struggles with economic hardship. It will really be difficult to raise kids in such an environment. One person simply cannot do it all alone.
