One of the ways to learn something is to observe and look at other people's work. In my case, other artists' works. It is a strength that I realized - that I can easily learn something by just paying attention to HOW they do it.

Do I learn through the technical process and explanations and stuff like that? Sure. Am I gonna remember all of those? No. Am I gonna learn and absorb knowledge through watching others' works and rely on pattern recognition for it? Absolutely. XD

A new idea came up to me, I need to have a sketchbook dedicated for color studies by directly observing others' works.

I have this Talens sketchbook and I made this my book for color studies. It is 12x12cm which is very tiny so it is very relaxing and no pressure and I also finish quick on one page.

This is also a great way for me to decide on which color palettes I like and apply to any painting I will work on in the future. A lot of times I really struggle with colors and not really being sure about which ones to use so having this catalog will allow me to decide faster.

I briefly remembered I have an awesome scanner so this is what I used to capture this haha. While I was making this, I was looking at Van Gogh's work and applying the colors he used on my paper. I wasn't focusing on form so I was just making lines with whatever as long as I can experiment with the colors.

These are a lot of ultramarine blue and naples yellow.

This was more of an intuition thing. I mostly relied on what I felt would look good with each other. I think it turned out good. :D

This one's inspiration was Sainer. I really love his color palette and I'm just trying to learn on how he uses colors and tones and why they look good together.

I also learned a very important thing: Color mixing. I applied the not using white and black to lighten and darken colors rule and my colors turned out to be so vibrant. Which was my goal. :D

This was also Sainer-inspired. I love how they turned out and it reminds me of the fauvism movement. :D

That's it for my color studies for now. Painting on paper is really fun although the warping is annoying me a bit but I like how they kinda look like an art gallery just cos of the white borders lol.
