Tap to spend is now available in Guatemala in Hostel Del Lago, a huge 50 bed Hotel at Lake Atitlan.
- Each guest is given a Hive Debit NFC card when the check in, they can top up that card anytime they like (see following video to see top up process)
- They can then use hivedbeit.com to do tap payments on the local POS
- On the back of each card there are 3 QR codes. 1) scan to claim 5% cashback on their purchases at businesses at the property, 2) scan to check card balance, 3) scan to check hotel and event info.
This integration uses both @thedistriator and @hivedebit tech as one integration and allows seemless, feeless tap payments with cash back in the business.
The business gets more cash flowing in and being spent at the business premises as a result, it also gets a bunch of content and feedback directly from clients at the hostel as they claim cashback, so that the business has a better route to listen to its clients.
In future plans, we intend to link these tap cards to room locks at the business, so that clients can top up their cards to spend, open their rooms and even exchnge phone numbers witb each other by tapping their cards to POS devices, door locks and to the back of each other's phones.
Thanks to @ninaeatshere (maanger at the business), @jthomasewsky (developer for Hive Debit), @sagarkothari88 (developer for Distriator), @buttcoins (Business owner) and @starkerz (Project implementation manager).

For me, this should be one of the top priorities in the Hive Proposal.
I have some questions in this process of understanding.
I understand the idea of decentralized utopia and the world that comes with it. However, how about seeing a way to find Fiat in the game?
If we make one interface in the webapp to lock certain HBD for interest, but only to be locked without withdrawal, for spending? for instance:
1. User locks 10K Hive for a premium card anywhere in Hive Blockchain. The user will receive the card.
2. The card wallet will have a swap feature, to be kept in Fiat or HBD. Fiat will have no interest, and HBD has a 12-14% interest rate. Now, spending is done for Fiat, and cashback will be given in Hive or HBD? Depending on the best scenario?
Anyone can go retail, but also swap hive and hbd and play around the market, this could create an adoption.
Also, the addition of the fund could be a Top-up card that could eliminate hassle in entering different countries?
If Fiat comes into the game, most people will play with it. Idk the long-term impact on Hive and HBD pegging, but it could be massive for HIVE.

that is exactly what it can be.
charge 50 usd per sponsor to put their logo on the cards, half goes on cards for the first say 100 people at the festival so that they can have a spending experience, and the rest goes to be split between the festival organizer and the ppl bringing the cards. they cards are open source, so anyone can do this without asking out permissions at any time they like. its a ready made business model for any hivean to make money off right now.
