I do also have plans myself to eventually power up an account completely separate from my real one that would only upvote things like hbd.funder/burn posts and focus more on downvoting so it wouldn't cause endless debates, retaliations, etc. That's the one thing people do when they get targeted for "fair" downvotes, imo. Look at the farming account queenart that I stumbled upon recently, they instantly "took it out" on me by unvoting our witness, etc. It's just the way the world works on here, everyone's so emotional about keeping the farms and low effort rewards going once they get there, very few actually take the time to wonder if the content they're generating is worth the rewards they're getting and if they should be posting every day or not.

Disagreeing on the reward pool should be separate from if that person is a good witness.

For one, keeping at least the hp part would help distribution and decentralization, you could make the argument that 1000 minnows have as much sway as a whale on witness and other gov votes, and they'd be able to start earning a decent amount of curation rewards over time for passive earnings as to not force themselves to post all the time or get in gray area farm activities.

At the same time, you are here, you see it working in your favor, you much like everyone else are quite a nobody outside of hive that wouldn't earn anything anywhere else so you could easily understand how nicely this place could scale if everyone was rewarded for their social activity yet you still choose not to leave any stake in the project that's been so nice to you? it's quite weird indeed.

I think what you are doing is great, we've needed somebody to kick the hive for some time.
Drama brings in the eyeballs, after all.

The other day an improvement to the curation game occurred to me.
What if we could separate flags into curation flags and author flags, each not affecting the other.
Rather than have to punish good authors for bad curation, we could only punish the curation.

IF the curator wants to flag only one or the other, this should be an option open to them.
Some curators are long term drains on the system, while some other long term drains are authors.
Having the ability to discern, and treat differently, the two types of abuse would be a great move forward, imo.

I like where your head is at. I am not sure how hard that would be to implement or what all the downstream effects there would be.

One negative downstream effect I can think of is this creates a way for curators to curate other curators which could snowball out of control.

Side question - Is there currently a way for authors to reject the curation of a curator? I don't really see any cons in giving the author this power and it would allow people to "turn off" certain like spam "notifications".

Any change is likely to open new and unthought of ways of abuse, probably should run it by somebody that can better model the math than me.

Oops, that is about the death of the n2, the poor tax was 2 forks later.
What hg19 did was give us linear rewards so the bidbots could reap us for the 2 years stinc went on (alleged) opium hazed walkabouts.

I was in that group for a long time, too.
Then folks started pointing out that it penalized anybody with less than 400k hp, I labeled it a poor tax, and they repealed it in the next fork.
But, pay close attention at who exactly was pushing it.
They are still here, they still rake the pool continuously.

The nice thing about all this being recorded with blockchain security is that they can't hide what they have done.
