This means showing gratitude to the most minute thing done out of love or kindness. It means not been worried about the monetary value of a thing but the intention behind it. In our society today most men and women confuse appreciation for repayment, let me site a short example in a setting whereby a boss car should breakdown by the road side then an employee should pass by him with his own car but only stops to assist him so later he can ask for a promotion. Appreciation doesn’t mean repaying a favour done to you but it means been greatful for what was done.

How we have confused repayment for Appreciation

This mostly happens in our place of work, homes, schools or religious settings. Repayment are only expected after a favor is been done, in some cases of something was done e.g a parent paying a childs school fees, an elder in a church taking gifts to see a youth who is ill e.t.c he or she doesn’t need you to pay him back but due to the way our society, the person do this kindness to feels he has to repay so as not to owe the fellow anything

We should learn to show true kindness so as to prevent appreciation from been mistook for repayment, many a people tend to seek repayment after giving thereby reducing the rate of appreciation in our community so I urge everyone to give out of the kindness of their heart not the reward thereafter.

Good piece you've got there. However, I think it all bores down to individuality. We are all being Endowed with reasons and intellect. So we have the right to choose or reject. We determine what will do, how we do it and why it is done. While some would forever be expectant anytime they do you a favor, some may not, as a matter of their nature, eventually remember they've done you any good in Retrospect thereby won't take your appreciation so serious or expect you to return the favor in the long run. I agree that our culture has clouded our reasonings to spot the difference. Your submission is indeed a wake up call. Thank you
