Hi fellow community,
In light of the recent announcements in the crypto world and beyond I have been thinking about Steem and what we need to do in order to unleash Steem's full potential.
As of now all Steem-based apps are fragmented throughout the web, the on-boarding process is not up to today's standards and furthermore, SMTs and their implementation are still miles from being user-friendly. All together Steem's appearance is less inviting to the masses and nowadays often looks like a playground for hobby developers.
If we don't up the game sooner than later and create a platform for ordinary people, Steemit might soon not be able to catch up with the general trend (exponential growth).
I am suggesting a new Steem website - a kind of platform with:
- an easy sign up process
- an overview of and access to all the major and new DApps
- overview of and access to an updated Steemit community (which offers public profiles, option to befriend other users, option to create a Facebook-like group, etc.)
- a selection of major SMTs and their respective communities
- access to the SMT-platform
- access to Steem.Center (Steem-Wiki)
- There needs to be a step by step instruction before and when creating SMTs (and/ or the option to book a developer per hour with a few clicks - users could qualify for certain tasks and sign up when available)
- There should be an "official" and continuously updated Steempress-plugin for ordinary users to implement their SMTs into their websites and communities (should be compatible with common forum softwares like phpBB).
The team might need some additions and front-end experts in order to achieve this :D Developers helping to maintain and expand the website could also get rewarded through upvotes on a "Progress made" Steemit-post shown on the homepage-sidebar.
Questions the FAQ doesn't cover could also end up in a "help"-tagged section on Steemit. Users who provide the most accurate response would then be rewarded with those upvotes.
These are just a few brainstorming ideas I had while I wrote this post since I can't wait to see all the creativity, ideas and knowledge strive on the Steem-blockchain. I want to see Steemit as a platform of opportunities and networking, where everyone can share their skills.
It's time to open up and create a user-interface that enables everyone to fully embrace the Steem potential!
