A very good point of clarification and even more about FB access and exploitation of personal data. u is data accessed by developers from profiles of people who download their app (and their friends). Facebook has more data on users than is publicly available and that's for everyone who uses their platform. No one but Facebook has access to that data. This is the point that almost all of the journalists involved seem to be unable to understand, but they repeatedly equate Facebook's internal data to 'data accessed from Facebook profiles using third-party apps'. But this is a very different thing.
