Near the Station of Shifen on railroad tracks is the Shifen Old Streets.
A small but charming place which is famous for its chinese lanterns. You can purchase one in different colours for a small price and write your wishes down, then it will get light up and fly to the sky to the gods.
Also take the small hike of 30 minutes over beautiful bridges to the stunning Shifen Waterfall, you dont need to take a taxi, the walk is quite easy and brings you to nice locations.
