About a year ago I decided I was ready to upgrade from my XBox 360 to one of the new generation consoles. The hard part was deciding which one to buy, and that's probably why a year has passed and I still haven't upgraded. I'll share my thoughts on the different options and I'd love to hear feedback / suggestions on which console you think is best.
Xbox One
- Feels like a logical upgrade from the 360
- I find the controllers more comfortable (based on 360 vs PS3)
- Halo and Gears of War are two of my favorite games. I know there's a lot of other shooters but I've only been playing them and CoD for the past 7 years
PS4
- Has VR, which I haven't actually tried, but have convinced myself I'd enjoy it
- Has recently released a VR Gun Controller, if the games are as fun as PS1 Time Crisis and Point Blanc, I'll be happy.
Nintendo Switch
- I know very little about this console but a couple of friends keep telling me how great it is.
PC
- Another option I haven't tried properly but maybe I should
- I used to play games on PC (way back in the 90's), so I could get used to mouse and keyboard gaming again
Writing this post has left me leaning toward PS4, but comments and suggestions could change that... Next challenge is to find a store / friend who can let me test the VR with Farpoint and the gun controller.
