cheetah bot rewards copy/paste‽

Hi
I'm just wondering what the point of the @cheetah robot is?
It seems to simply reward copy/paste posts, something I would think steemit would want to reduce.

for example, this post is simply a copy/paste with no credit given from this site

@cheetah recognizes this and upvotes with the link to the original...

There are so many, but here are some other examples

@cheetah is a plagiarism hunter. There is a piece on it in the offical Steemit FAQ:
> @cheetah is a bot developed by @anyx that scours Steemit for copy/pasted content. Cheetah will not downvote copied content, but it alerts other users to look into it further.

> Abusive accounts (serial plagiarists or identity thieves, for example) will go on Cheetah’s blacklist. These users will get downvoted by @cheetah accounts when they post.

The point of my post was that it upvotes. Why‽

According to https://steemit.com/steemit/@cheetah/faq-about-cheetah it seems to be 'a sign of good faith'.

Not sure how else to answer this. Maybe you can get a better answer in Steemchat Channel of @steemcleaners.

This is very odd to me, it's rewarding the very thing is is there to stop.
Thanks for your reply ;)

Maybe it's to avoid putting off good users who might make an unintentional mistake. :)

No problem! Happy to help with my limited knowledge haha
