I understand why you're doing this, but honestly:

Knowledge about Steem & the whole Ecosystem shouldn't be behind a paywall. Especially not an external one.

I mean - we're on Steem.

You could create one Post for each topic and people could pay with their Votes.

Only problem would be to link them all together, but you could do this simply on your Website or under each Post.

I really respect when people try to bring Steem forward, but I'd rather see this on Steem.

Oh and by the way - where is Utopian? :/ THE most amazing app on Steem (right after that comes dtube in my opinion):

Maybe one day Steemit will have an edu app that allows for video courses to be build right into Steemit?! Maybe you could design it?! Now that’s a good idea 😬 that way we wouldn’t have to go to Udemy. The only reason I use them is because it’s an easy process and Free for everyone. Also, I’ll make sure to make tutorials for Utopian for sure! I just personally have not used it yet so I am lacking in experience and ignorance 😑

That would be a great business idea - but I guess you will also reach Users who are not yet on Steem through Udemy. So I'm interested what the statistics are.

There are 7,000 people on Udemy from my first course and many of them are now aware and on Steemit because of it which is fun bc it’s helping grow the community. I have more than 300,000 unique students who follow me on Udemy so it’s a great way to also make them aware of Steemit as well

I joined Steemit because of a course I saw advertised on Udemy that Joe taught. I was on Udemy for a completely different reason and had heard of Steemit before but didn't know much about it. Considering that you could post an educational video and monetize it through Dtube itself it seems like what you're looking for already exists ... I understand what you're saying though. There's a limit on profitability but I'd argue that you'd be more likely to draw customers to externally hosted products if you gave more here, no? Just my 2 cents --- I admit that I'm new to the platform and still learning.

Hi scaredcatgamer this is a great point and I have done this as well, however in a course setting people can watch video right after video without having to search on Dtube or what not for their answers. This simplified the learning process and makes it a bit easier for many students

Perhaps the simplest all in one solution is for Steemit/Dtube to integrate videos which require purchasing or are part of a subscription service. Similar to what many are doing through Patreon.

Knowledge is power and I'd be happy to pay for courses to better myself from those who know. I am grateful for the free course and hopefully now I can soon afford more! Thanks Joe!

Agreed. But Joe got the knowledge for free by using steem/steemit. You can too. just go out and use steemit, talk to people, most will happily share tips and advice with you for free

This is true @idikuci you can do this, however, I had a mentor before coming to steemit (he actually introduced me to steemit) and it has REALLY helped me! Having a guide/teacher/mentor can speed up the learning process and really help! I know first hand because when I first came here I was a total newbie too! And it was hard! lol

you're , missing the point. The topic atm is that it looks like Joe is luring people from steem to another webhosted service and profit from it there. As he could also monetize his video's over here.

But I totally agree with you that i'd be happy to pay for good knowledge. I also saw his course so, big thanks to him. But he may be getting into a more controversial area if he tries to capitalize his audience in this way.

You are able to do this. In your first post and every other post, at the end of it, provide a link to all of your sessions. Problem is of course, you earn more if you charge people $9.99 instead of getting a $0.01 upvote...

The convention for links to posts is easy:
steemit.com/{First Tag}/{@username}/{post-title-without-spaces}

You could even link to posts you haven't put in yet, as long as you determine the title and tags. Doing it this way just feels scammy. Not saying it is a scam, I'm sure people feel they get their money's worth, but to leave steem and go somewhere else so you charge a dollar rate per episode seems shitty.

Or maybe you just don't like that after 7 days any new people that come up won't be able to give you upvotes...

i have throughly enjoyed the course so far. it has been a big help being a noob to steemit and everything even basic about it. keep up the good work. still could use some help gaining a following especially when my tag posts arent even on the lists of tags. i am trying to open up the airsoft world on steemit. it seems everyone who posts videos or anything stole it from a big youtube on facebook and declare it as their own, i make my own content and its hard to get recognized sometimes..i know it takes time and i am going to atick with it because i know it will be something someday...i hope

It's only $10, if people want all the content in a quick and concise way that is not much to pay rather than going through and finding all the resources from different sources. Also Udemy offers a different business model than Steem, which is more attractive to most content creators because the payouts continue for longer than just one week.

I saw a couple of his videos on YouTube to be honest I don't feel like the OP is ready to create a paid course on this subject, I wouldn't mind a free course on this but not a paid one specially for steemit where everything is pretty much free of charge. I learned most of the stuff here on my own and was able to get my rep above 40 in 10 days lol so I don't know I guess this can work for some people. Cheers!

I am taking this course, been on Steemit a while. Never could figure out why the many currencies in the wallet. Anyway I ran out of bandwidth today and tried to buy steem but bought Steem power instead. I realized I did not know the difference or the uses. I ended up buying both. Ignorance is always expensive! I am now on a mission to understand Steemit inside out. Hopefully your course should help with that.

It would be helpful if Dtube told us up front that there's no native compression. Took a bit to figure out why my LetsPlay vids wouldn't playback for crap.

As a Udemy instructor I don't think pushing your course on the Steemit community is beneficial to what we're doing. Not only is this a monetized platform with apps like DTube, Dsound, Steemit and more supporting, but you're essential directing people away from Steem AND handing Udemy money since they take 40-60% of the proceeds. You'll litterally make more money itemizing the topics out here and converting them into long form blogs.

I get that you make a little money in the long term, but it's nowhere ever close to monitizing it on Steem itself. Also, your course in NOT a comprehensive or "complete" course as you suggest.

It's not only missing a ton of stuff, but you don't even go over Quality of Post, Tags, Contests, or the varies ways to GIVE back to the community.

This post not only is deceptive to newcomers, but according to other comments here is a bad look for the community. While I understand why you thought this was a good idea it really is poor representation of the community and what we're doing collective.

UDEMY is not for the people. I spent years on that platform for them to take more than 60% of my earnings. So I know for a fact this barely benefits you on Udemy, gives money to the Udemy company, and doesn't benefit the community.

As an educator and marketer this post disappoints me and leaves a bad taste in my mouth..

Sorry I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt, but this isn't cool and at direct odds with the ambition of the people.

A quote I love from the first law of the Gogiver book is this “The Law Of Value: Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment”. The concept is value is not simply functional (I want to learn about Steemit), but it's equally or even more so - social (I can connect with others like me on Steemit) and emotional (I feel good working towards my vision of being paid for what I love to do). A lot of value for a small transfer of payment (an upvote at minimum). That's a lot of worth you're generating. Your gesture is a great example of this ideal, I feel. Thanks again.

Lol ; took the free course - i do agree with @therealwolf - a lot of your stuff deals with information that SHOULD be free - but i digress ; perhaps the people that pay into this should get some sort of reward rather than just selective information .
First video is asking for followers ; so i have not left a rating, but i have followed before even watching only because i love to learn new information .
I would also like to possibly join some sort of team and collaborate with others in order to bring more people into this platform .
But quite a number of your videos should be put into one larger video, like the first 2 or 3 ; intro, asking for followers and setting up the account . things like that should be set up all together, rather than setting up 3 or 4 videos for that kind of information .

Dont get me wrong, I love steemit and Dtube (check out my page). But my older sister signed up for steemit the same day as me, and she STILL hasn't had her account approved! We also checked out AnonSteem but they charge ~$50 for accounts there.

I know we're not the only ones having this problem. Please fix the sign ups! So when all these millions of Facebook users come, they can actually get in!

I understand why you do this, but frankly:

The knowledge about the steam and the whole dark environmental should not be beyond Baywal. Especially an external one.

I mean--we're on the steam.

You can create a single post for each topic and people can pay their votes.

The only problem is connecting them all together, but you can simply do it on your website or under each post.

I really respect when people try to bring the steam forward, but I would like to see this on the steam.

Steem is one of the greatest ideas for crypto I have ever seen and have nothing but high hopes. One day I found out about it because im a crypto inverter and take alot of time looking at different coins to see the ideas behind them. i like to watch videos that explain coins and one of them happen to be on something else but at the end he talked about his steemit blog and i looked it up and was hooked thought it was an amazing idea and can't wait to see what is next

There are really a lot of things to learn, especially when you are new to this platform. It is really useful.
