Bitcoin is down, why are the alts not taking over??

The King or Queen is dead right? Please show me how the alts have the resolve to take them out for good? I love the free market, and am ready to entertain any views on the matter. Patience and testing are always the key to a fantastic result.

Most crypto suggest they are the next big thing, yet when BTC is down, they cannot take over with any sustain. It makes no sense to me, but what do I know. Thank you for your insights, they are noted
