Let me start this post with some gratitude...I think it's important that we spend time each day, whether we are people of faith or not, and be thankful for what we have in life. And today, this isn't me being thankful for a home, clothing and food for my family, because this goes without saying...Right now, I'm thankful for you!

I want to thank you for reading these blogs and listening to the podcasts I've been creating recently. I understand that #faith and #religion aren't the most popular topics on this blockchain, but I appreciate that you lend me your ear when I post them!

Thank you for making my journey on this blockchain, so rewarding. I appreciate you and the time you spend here :)

Let's dive into our next chapter in the #biblejourney - A walk through 1 and 2 Corinthians. And today, we're into Chapter 10!

I had two verses that really hit home for me, and gave me the most spiritual food and we'll go over the first one now:

I want to highlight something here for my Catholic brothers and sisters. Let's so a simple bible study anmd check out the Greek for certain words in here and Matthew 16:18.

This verse above, it's VERY clear who the 'Rock' is. Paul says it's Jesus and there is no other. In fact, if you go through the entire bible from start to finish, God is always called the Rock. (eg; Deut. 32:4, 2 Sam. 22:2,3, Psalms 92:15, etc) And we can see this here because the Greek word for Rock is...Petra.

Fast forward to Matthew 16:18, and we see Peter being called 'petros' in Greek, which means simply...Little stone. But when Jesus says upon this ROCK, the Greek word then becomes petra. Which is the exact same word that Paul uses in 1 Corinthians 10:4.

Right there, we see what the church will be built on...Not Peter, but on the Rock of Ages....Jesus Christ.

So yeah, that was the first verse that stuck out :)

The next was....

This really hit home for me! And I'm sure you have heard it before....Temptation is a killer!

And it is. At least it can be. But here's the beauty of God. He will never 'tempt' us in more than we are able to withstand. In fact, when you read this verse and a few below it, we see it's not God tempting us at all.

Remember, this world is of the devil. And he is the great deceiver that tempts us all the time. The promise of God is, that God will never allow us to be tempted in things He knows we can't 'bear'. What an amazing God!!

This is a promise I think we as believers need to hold close and remember!

Two powerful verses, but overall I think Chapter 10 is one of my favorites in both of these books. Just fantastic theological insight and promises from our Lord and Savior!

The first verse speaks to me, for not but JUST LAST NIGHT, I was meditating on the words "my rock."

The first thought that came to mind was my husband; is it wrong to consider him my rock?

Because the second thought was just that -- all of the Bible verses where God is referred to as our rock. I read many examples throughout Psalms.

God is constant, He can lift us when we are unable to lift ourselves, He can take away our burdens, He can grant us safety. What an amazing God -- amen! 🙏🙏

I don't think so...I mean my wife says the same about me, and I say the same about her...Fancy enough, her name is actually Petra LOL

But I dont think calling someone a 'rock' is a bad thing, because it's meant to be a solid foundation, firm etc. The issue is when an entire faith group misinterprets one verse and builds an entire doctrine on it. Peter in a few verses after it, is told to get behind Christ because he was filled with the spirit of Satan.

But alas, Catholics are gonna Catholic :) I still love them!!!
