Sundays are usually the days I dedicate the most time to reading. Between my two jobs, the gym, boxing, and all the other activities I've added this year, sometimes during the week I barely manage to get through a few pages. But on Sundays, I try to slow down a bit and set aside some time to sit down with a book and simply disconnect.
Right now, I'm reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. I've already read the entire Hunger Games saga, meaning the five books published so far, but I had a little unfinished business with this one. When it came out, I could only get it in digital format, so this is the first time I've had the chance to read it in physical form. And the experience feels completely different.
Something I like about this book is that it shows a very different version of Panem than the one we know from the original trilogy. It's interesting to see how many of the things that later seem normal in the story came about, as well as exploring characters from a much more complex perspective. For now I'm really enjoying returning to this universe, but this time with the added pleasure of turning the pages and holding the book in my hands.
Los domingos suelen ser los días en los que más tiempo le dedico a la lectura. Entre los dos trabajos, el gimnasio, el boxeo y todas las demás actividades que he ido sumando este año, a veces durante la semana apenas logro avanzar unas cuantas páginas. Pero los domingos intento bajar un poco el ritmo y reservar un espacio para sentarme con un libro y simplemente desconectarme.
Ahora mismo estoy leyendo Balada de pájaros cantores y serpientes. Ya leí toda la saga de Los Juegos del Hambre, los cinco libros publicados hasta ahora, pero con este tenía una pequeña deuda pendiente. Cuando salió, solo pude conseguirlo en formato digital, así que esta es la primera vez que tengo la oportunidad de leerlo en físico. Y la experiencia se siente completamente distinta.
Algo que me gusta de este libro es que muestra una versión muy diferente de Panem a la que conocemos en la trilogía original. Es interesante ver cómo se fueron formando muchas de las cosas que después parecen normales en la historia, además de explorar a personajes desde una perspectiva mucho más compleja. Por ahora estoy disfrutando bastante volver a este universo, pero esta vez con el placer adicional de pasar las páginas y tener el libro en mis manos.
