Hey Pig Herders,

We wanted to share some updates regarding the development of Piggericks.

We are working hard on adding features and fixing little kinks and bugs. And we released a new version on Friday that has the following improvements:

You can only add ETH addresses via Signature now

We used to allow any ETH address to be used, however this had the negative effect that some users were using addresses they did not control and then sent pigs to them. In order to avoid this we are now only allowing wallets to sign addresses so we know for sure users are in control of the keys to the address they use in the game.

In order to change the address associated with your account, there is now a disconnect button, vs just changing the text of the address. Likewise when you have not connected an ETH address, there is now a connect button, which will then let you sign a message to prove you control the address you are using.

We hope this makes everything easier and avoids users sending pigs to exchange wallets and such.

Strategically Select your Pigs

When you lose pigs in battles, you have more control over which ones are at risk now. It works exactly like it does with experience: The more you use a pig in your battle the more likely they can run away or die. If you do not use them at all there is no chance for you to lose them.

This gives you more control over which Pigs may go to your opponent and protect Pigs you do not want to lose.

New Game Type

We will shortly introduce a new game Type: Experience ladder. These games work exactly like the battles you are used to, except you cannot lose your pigs at the end of it. And conversely you can also not win any pigs.

There still however will be risk, as you gain experience with wins, and lose experience with losses. Both will be higher than in Battle for pigs mode.

We are eager to learn which game mode players will prefere.

We will update you as we improve the game further. Thanks for everyone who reported bugs and also thank you for being patient.

Stay tuned

We have much more in store:

The Experience ladder sounds like terrible idea. The first few days, everyone is like: "Hooray, I cannot lose a pig." Then, they slowly start to realise that:

The last thing we need right now is splitting the players in twice as many queues.

This does not belong in the list because this is ten times more important than the rest. Let us continue - the players are going to realise that:

1) They have a favorite limit they are comfortable with playing. Winning and losing pigs at that level is something they care about. Dealing with downgrades and upgrades is a nuisance both ways (occasional upgrade under classic rules is rare enough to be a positive event that doesn't drain the supply of pig on the default level).

2) When they lose, they lose. The option of clicking the Game over button with the hope of seeing they kept the pigs is gone. Unlike winning (which always feels good even if it is only a handful of exp), losing experience is improved when you get a second chance gamble.

OK, when there is a Hive market for pigs without excessive fees, (1) is not so bad. The only excuse for (2) would be triggering this mode when one of the accounts in the game is new to give newcomers an opportunity to try the game for a fixed price before deciding if they want to buy the 10-15 pigs necessary for playing with the comfort of not thinking about a rebuy during every game (and lowering the tendency to fall in love with specific pig). Did I say "excuse"? That actually makes it a great idea.

Rehived. Not sure if I am fan of splitting the players at that time point.
