Before long I'll slumber
Five, six, seven, eight
Crickets chirping from a distance
Causing a slight disturbance
Nine, ten, eleven, twelve
Did she really mean it?

Was that the kitchen door?
No, just my imagination
I wish my mind would empty
This night seems pretty lengthy
I should've said less
The conversation would have been seamless
