So today marks my 10 year anniversary as a Real Estate Agent and I just remembered my first sale showing with a buyer whom I showed a few properties that day and this was our last stop. The seller was a very peculiar man with interesting ties to the neighborhood "old timers". To give an idea it was in the Italian section of Williamsburg Brooklyn So, Mr.Luigi was giving us a tour of the property which itself had a very interesting history but it was time for the seller to let it go. Other than that the property was nothing special except for the ground floor social club/bar where the fellas had a good time.
Anyway, we were making our way down a narrow staircase into the basement my buyer was first, I was behind him and Mr. Luigi was behind me. As we were slowly making our way down to look at the mechanicals and utilities The buyer asks
" hey, is the price negotiable?" to which Mr.Luigi replied: " Of course it's negotiable, everything is negotiable, even life and death , you know like when they start screaming " NO NO NO Please don't do it , PLEASE!!!" then you think twice about it.
I almost shit my pants. as we were looking at the boiler room and didn't know if I should laugh or be scared. My buyer looked at me, we looked at Mr.Luigi and laughed it off. We didn't make a deal there and ended up making a deal at a different property, but I run into him from time to time and we
always laugh about that day.
