Feelz vs. Reality

Of all of the enemies I've made over the years, by far what makes my most zealous, bitter, hostile haters is when I point out that whatever political "solution" got them all excited and hopeful will accomplish exactly nothing. (And then it does accomplish exactly nothing.)

Reality doesn't depend upon your feelz. And getting mad at me for pointing out how impotent your feelz are does about as much good as ... well, as hoping for a political solution to statism.

Also, when, for the zillionth time, the political "solution" you fell for fails to accomplish a damn thing, it's not because I ruined it by not jumping on the stupid bandwagon with you. If I had cheered for Obama, and voted for him, or cheered for Trump, and voted for him, or voted for some "Libertarian" (sic) candidate, or joined some petition or protest, or promoted this or that other political or legislative agenda, it would have utterly and completely failed all the same.

Eventually, learn your lesson and stop thinking that you can use a system built around authoritarian domination ... to do away with authoritarian domination.

And for those who will froth at the mouth and scream, "THEN WHAT'S YOUR SOLUTION?!?!" my answer remains the same as always: 1) Help as many people as possible to escape the cult of statism, and; 2) disobey and resist in whatever way you can. And no, begging the master for permission to be free is not disobeying, and it is not resisting.

I find it useless as it does nothing...

Well said. You don't stop crime by trying to convince the criminals that they shouldn't violate your rights. You stop crime by a) running away b) fighting c) passive resistance. Any of these options are better than giving sanction to the "voters" who are causing the problem in the first place.

Statism: the belief that we require permission to be free.

There are two good reasons for libertarians to vote.

1) It is a great way to get the message out. Most people do not read books on philosophy or economics, and most people do not visit libertarian or libertarian leaning websites. A heck of a lot more people know who Ron Paul is than know who Larken Rose is.

I do agree that the Libertarian Party running candidates who grossly misrepresent the philosophy, like Bob Barr, Gary Johnson, Bill Weld, etc..., is a complete waste of time, and is even counterproductive.

I have no problem with anyone running for political office so long as they run on a reasonably strong libertarian platform.

2) As an act of self defense. Sometimes a libertarian may actually get elected, and as an elected official they can help block bad bills and help good bills get passed, plus they can use their position to bring publicity to libertarian views and educate the public (like Ron Paul did).

I also see nothing wrong with voting on ballot initiatives and referendums, so long as one votes in the pro-liberty direction.

Let's say you were in prison for some victimless crime, or on some trumped up charges. Let's say that a libertarian was running for Governor, and if elected, he pledged to pardon you, and to pardon anyone else who is in prison for victimless crimes and/or on trumped up charges. Would you advocate that people don't vote for this libertarian candidate even though this candidate could get you out of prison if elected?

Let's say a libertarian were running for Sheriff against a nasty Democrat and/or Republican candidate for Sheriff who supported a bigger police state, and who turned a blind eye toward, or even actively supported, abusive and corrupt cops. Would you advocate not voting for the libertarian running for Sheriff? Would you rather see the corrupt big government Democrat or Republican take this office and have them running the Sheriff's department in the county where you live?

What if there was an initiative on your ballot to legalize marijuana? Would you advocate that people don't vote yes on it, so it fails and people keep getting arrested for marijuana offenses, and so the cops keep infringing on people's rights in the name of going after people for marijuana?

Let's say that there is a referendum on your ballot to repeal a tax increase? Would you advocate that people not vote in favor of repealing the tax increase., which would mean that lots of people have to pay higher taxes?

I agree that ideally, everyone would adopt the principles of voluntarism and would respect property rights and the Non-Aggression Principle, but this is not going to happen anytime soon, if ever. We are nowhere close to having a majority of the population adopting these principles.

So given this reality, we have to operate in the world as it is right now, not in far off fantasy land where everyone, or at least a majority of people, are hardcore libertarians.

There are also difficult problems that would have to be solved in order to transition into a free society. How should all of the assets held by government be divided up among the public, and who is going to figure this out? What happens to the government's stockpile of weapons, particularly its Weapons of Mass Destruction? What should be done about all of the people who are currently dependent on Social Security? What do you do with all of the people who are currently in prison who are in for legitimate crimes (murder, rape, armed robbery, etc...)? Etc...

I certainly agree that libertarians should promote activities that do not rely on electoral politics that help move society in a more libertarian direction. I'm talking about things like jury nullification of victimless crimes, cryptocurrency, home schooling, and gun ownership, to name a few, but there is no reason why these things can't also be promoted in conjunction with a political campaign.

A sharp blade, a Remington 870, an absence of "friends", and zero debt is the best platform for telling the truth. These may be cornerstones of survival going forward.

However as the suffering has hit critical mass, one has to question what utility there is in telling anyone the truth they refuse to hear. In cases where I do speak openly it is mostly to gauge conscious recognition of common ground, not to seek conversion.

Amidst the enemy (99.99% of the human race) I prefer to be unknown, underestimated . Under these conditions criticism as it arises is a gift. It is much more effective than attempting to confront them all one at a time. Let them do all the work and leave them the least amount of interaction to discount their fear(s). Fear of the unknown is a superior weapon. Don't be altruistic in leveling the playing field as they seek your extermination. A black and yellow flag worn 24/7 on your chest in the country year after year is resistance. A crooked smile is optional.

Quite like your style and website. A bit surprised/saddened by the 'The human life form is overrated' ... you're not as alone as it may appear buddy ...

fr33d0md1str0 -

Thanks for the nod. I experience sadness/surprise however my emotions are byproducts of thought processes not vice versa. It is correct that there is no separateness. It is correct that I am the one I was waiting for. It is correct that there are no errors in reality. Thoughts are autonomous integrated in body (form) not true self. The human life-form is over-rated. Consciousness devoid of matter knows the beauty of black and grey. Misidentifying as "human" has less utility than pulling a mule up a ladder. I am no-"thing".

In reading your reply, my memory brought forward words I collected many years ago when my site was young. Here's a "Handsome Family" video I framed with those words. This is as best I can share my contrast with you. I no longer "get the fear". It is finished, there was only pain in "the wait". Until I am released, I will content myself with exploring mankind, a metaphorical evil pit.

Bottomless Collectivism

It seems to me that:

I've come to understand, that form is the "art" of living.
Form is not life.
Life is existence.
Existence is truth.
Truth is infinite.

Human senses are not infinite, therefore a human cannot "know" infinite truth. "Knowing" the truth doesn't matter. Only the truth matters.

A conscious individual embraces the great mystery, and seeks to go deeper into it.
Reality is existence, no alternative reality exists. To resist the present moment is to avoid consciousness, and manifests suffering. Consciousness involves moving toward infinite truth, a dynamic state of progression.

Collectivism appears to insist upon sacrificing individuals to an equality of faith and denial, as necessary to sustain collective action. Collectivism appears manifest of individual dysfunctions collected. Therefore collectivist utility appears to be the metaphorical equivalent of a bottomless pit. Catalyst for this phenomena are retrenchment strategies based in fear of the unknown, and non-existent shelter of ego misidentification. The longer collective egos are maintained, the more dysfunctional their behavior. Mature collective egos become increasingly hostile, openly and defiantly displaying their intent, to sacrifice anything and everything in faith to their collective "story". Approaching critical mass, their rhetoric appears to erode from hypocritical pontification, to complete contradiction. With an entitlement mentality, they seek to order mankind into the bottomless pit.

They may as well be chanting: "Until I reach the bottom, I won't believe it's bottomless".
