Ecency made a new update recently showing views on posts as well as devices used to open posts. The read time is suspect at 7.4 seconds which is odd considering Peakd shows 4.5 mins on their dashboard. (total view counters are separate between Ecency and Peakd)

Ive even had a lot of people come up to me and asked when Vibes might get a mobile app, to which my answer is almost always "never" as Vibes doesnt generate any revenue to justify further expenditure and if I made a token to support development you would all dump it on day 1, lets be honest here. 😂
Otherwise the only thing that would work would be a DHF proposal that would basically just create another Ecency or Peakd that is only sustained via DHF. Im not sure I want to do that. Im sure I dont. 😅
But I do feel there is a need from the community to shift our focus to mobile first development elsewhere where its possible. Blogging is outdated as is. Desktop focused blogging is even more so.

Now, people might conclude from the screenshot above from ecency that mobile is preferred to desktop in general. You cant really draw that conclusion from a single screenshot, but what you can do is conclude that there is visible demand for it.
That said, this should at least serve as a pointer of sorts for anyone developing Hive based apps. Maybe do some deeper market research. If we want to reach a broader audience and drive engagement, mobile-first development needs to be part of the convo.
The demand is there, its on us how we meet it.
This all ties into the wider discussion of user experience.
There was one modern looking one that looked great. Dapplr I think. There were some problems with the team I think. Looked really smooth though. Shame it didnt pan out.
>There are a lot of dark depths functionality wise that mobile doesn't have to display..
Absolutely.
I mean for Vibes, if I had a mobile dapp for it....
id completely cut blogging out of it, restrict uploads to couple sentences, turn Hive comments into posts.
Heres just a random easy dumb thing to get rid of I looked at for 1 sec...
"Blog, All my posts, replies, my snaps, comments". - All could probably be reduced to 1 page, max 2. Instead we have 5. 😂
For a mobile dapp you could probably cut more than 50% of whatever you want to call it... functionality, options, etc.
Dapplr!! That was the best one by far I think.
Yeah, it really is about simplification. Users want that, clean interface, no clutter.
Not all the settings and display options under the sun. Most are happy with dark mode and a feed. It would be good to have a universal feed.
Strip it all out!! 😀😀

Brother... I have to show you something. First off, I don't know what it is. I've been trying to put my finger on it and I can't.
But here's the deal. This is the type of thing that doesn't have to make sense to make perfect sense. Something maybe akin to when you are driving, you reach your destination, yet you can't remember driving at all.

Its a long video... I thought I was going to stop watching it a few times, and it kept on sucking me in.
Once i was done, and started to play back what I had just seen in my head. I thought to myself. I'm going to go out on a branch and guess that Meesterboom is going to get it too. He's got my twisted sense of canonicity. Don't know if you are on discord, so I'm slapping it here.
I might end up writing about this channel too... I have no idea what i found, but I love it.
Mobile (as in a phone) is ok for short posts. But I would rather stab my eyes out that type something even as long as this post on a phone. Besides, laptops are mobile too. But then, maybe I've just reached the "get off my lawn" stage of my life.
As far as viewing content, the difference is less stark. I tend to view stuff here on a desktop or laptop but do so on a phone as well.
