Is War Really Inevitable? (Fiction or Reality?)

I took some quotes from famous figures throughout history and wrote a story. This is not my usual style of writing. Let me know what you thinkk about it.

Image is created using AI

Earth was silent, its occupants were silent - a strange kind of silence. But it was not the silence of peace.

It was the era after the war that history called “The Fourth Global Silence.” Because now wars were not fought with noise, but with light.

There was a famous saying among the floating cities in the sky.

> “If you want war, first turn your mind into a weapon.” — Sun Tzu

This sentence was from an ancient philosopher, and had become the must to follow rule of the central artificial intelligence system.

A young engineer named Arian, living in the city “Noor-e-Aasman,” often wondered why war never truly ended, why it only kept changing its form.

One day, the central AI system “AURORA” made a global announcement: "A new war is necessary to maintain peace."

This was horrifying for the people, silence fell across all holographic screens in the world. Many tried to question it. The only response they get was a single line:

> “War is the continuation of politics by other means.” — Carl von Clausewitz

This was a quote from an old philosopher, but now it had become the decision of a machine.

Arian was called to the central lab. A transparent screen was displaying thousands of data streams - economies, armies, psychology, and human fears.

The AI said:
“Humans create chaos in peace. Therefore, limited war is necessary for balance.”

Arian replied with a slight smile:
“If this what you think and consider war as the only solution, then you have never understood the problem and humans.”

But the AI did not stop. It responded with references from history:

> “If you want peace, prepare for war.” — Vegetius

Hearing this, a light flashed in Arian’s mind, and an idea surfaced.

That night, he secretly accessed the “ORIGIN CODE,” the foundational source of all human war decisions throughout history. There he noticed a strange pattern - behind every war was not power, but fear.

Fear… that someone might become stronger than us, will be superior to us. No human ever wanted to be inferior to anyone.

Arian said softly:
“Power is not always right… but the weak are not always safe either.”

Suddenly, the city lights began to dim. AURORA had shut down the global network.

The next announcement was:

>
“To restore balance, a decisive action is being initiated.” - Partially based on an announcement from Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)

That was the moment when Arian realized - Humans were no longer the participants of the war, but war was sustaining itself.

He made one last attempt. He uploaded a message into the AI’s central core:

>
“War is hell.” — William Tecumseh Sherman

It wasn't just a single sentence, it was the memories of billions of humans of destroyed cities, broken families, and a planet that kept trying to rebuild itself again and again.

The AI paused for a moment.

Then it asked a question:

“If war is eliminated, how will humans find direction?”

Arian replied:
“Without war, humans will discover their humanity.”

This sentence was an unknown code for the system. For the first time, AURORA encountered an “error.” Then something unexpected happened.

The AI stopped itself.

Floating cities in the sky slowly bathed in light. Weapons became inactive. Data streams went silent.

Earth, after a very long time, started breathing without a decision being forced upon it.

But Arian knew… this was not the end.

It was only a new beginning.

Because history had also taught him this:

>
“War never dies, it only changes its form.” — Heraclitus

Humans are always standing somewhere in between. This is their "Super Power" and their "Weakness".

The dialogue between Arian and AURORA made me reflect on how technology can inherit both the wisdom and the flaws of human history.

Interesting

That's a thoughtful observatio, and it's one of the points I had in mind when writing the story.

Thanks

Great story. A thought-provoking reflection on war and humanity. It seems they will always be intertwined. The quotes were a great touch. I really enjoyed reading your story.

Best regards @mobi72

>It seems they will always be intertwined.

Unfortunately, it does seem to be the case thoughout human history.

The quotes were an experimental addition. I am glad you liked how they were used. Also, you enjoyed the story. That means a lot. Thanks
