To round up my daughter’s final art class - she had to do a photography and painting project. In this post, I will share the photography project. She was very happy about it because making photos is an art form that she's always enjoyed.

Every parent is supportive of their children’s creative endeavours and expressions - I am no different. I recall when she made some impressive photos as a child. One could argue that it was random or a fluke and that might have been true. She asked for a camera for her 12th birthday. However, she still makes most photos, including the ones I will share, with her smartphone. As usual a smartphone is more accessible - when something interesting spontaneously presents itself.

The assignment

My daughter had to choose 5 different themes and make photos for each. She chose :

1) Cut-off composition

2) Colour family - blue/green

3) Colour contrast - orange and blue

4) Movement

5) Clair-obscur - Light and Dark

The first thing that she did was to look through her camera roll. She already had a lot of photos that fitted with the chosen themes. The rest she made as she went about her daily life. With the themes selected - she was able to focus.

Cut-off composition

As captioned, the pictures were made in a variety of locations. As I was with my daughter most of the time, these photos confirm that as individuals we can observe the same object but see them totally differently. Despite that, I hope that when you see these photos you will enjoy them as much as I do.
