Taken near the start of the Kaena Point Trail, North Shore. There's actually two trails to Kaena Point, one from the south and one from the north.
Though this picture is from the north entrance, I did the hike from the south, which is a bit over 5 miles. I highly recommend the walk. Make sure you get started early enough in the day, though, and bring water & sunscreen. Once the sun rises over the mountains, there's little shade.
There's great oceanside scenery along the route, lots of cliffs and interesting rock formations. At Kaena Point, you'll see albatrosses nesting and, if you're lucky, maybe spot a rare Hawaiian monk seal in the water.
