Hace un año escribí mi reseña sobre la primera temporada de esta serie y en aquel momento le di a esta adaptación del manga homónimo una calificación de 7.5 / 10, pues me pareció muy bueno su desarrollo, pero al no haberse definido el motivo por el cual ocurría lo que ocurría, sentí que no existía mayor trasfondo en la trama que el único objetivo de generar entretenimiento, sin que existiera una argumentación lógica y convincente para que estos juegos mortales se produjeran. Pues en esta segunda temporada, esa explicación finalmente llegó y a mi parecer fue brillante, por lo que esta vez de antemano te confieso que mi valoración será mucho más alta, pero antes de dar ese veredicto final, expondré mi análisis de la serie, intentando en lo posible no develar spoilers.
Posiblemente no hayas leído mi crítica de la primera temporada, así que volveré a describir la premisa en torno a la que se desarrolla la historia. Un trío de amigo se pasea por el concurrido centro de Shibuya en Tokio (Japón), mientras se comportan de forma inmadura en medio de un cruce peatonal, ocasionando allí un accidente de tránsito, por lo que huyen de la policía escabulléndose entre la multitud e ingresando luego a un baño público, donde se resguardan por un momento hasta que de pronto se escuchan explosiones como de fuegos artificiales y cuando ellos salen nuevamente a la calle, todo el mundo ha desaparecido y la ciudad está casi completamente deshabitada.
Tras ir a sus respectivas casas y constatar que sus familiares han desaparecido, vuelven a reunirse en el centro de la ciudad y descubren que existen algunas otras personas en condiciones similares a la suya, además que para continuar con vida deben participar en una serie de juegos mortales, ya que cada uno de ellos posee una especie de visa para permanecer allí, cuya vigencia solo se extiende con la participación en dichos juegos. De modo que, en caso de expirar sus visas, desde el cielo caerían rayos láser acabando con sus vidas, tal como sucede con otros personajes de relleno que se niegan a participar o incluso que pierden en su correspondiente prueba.

Es así como los tres amigos comienzan a participar en una serie de eventos de supervivencia, clasificados en cuanto a tipo y dificultad en función de los palos de una baraja de naipes. Uno de estos tres chicos es el protagonista principal, Arisu, a quien los demás suelen llamar Alice, por lo que fácilmente se puede asumir que Borderland es el lugar, dimensión paralela o como se dice en la serie, el país, en que se efectúan los juegos. Este joven es un fanático gamer (jugador de videojuegos) lo cual le concede cierta ventaja al enfrentarse a estos desafíos, los cuales, a diferencia de los vistos en la serie El Juego del Calamar, resultan bastante elaborados y complejos. Al mismo tiempo, esa característica del personaje nos sugiere que todo es simplemente una alucinación suya para escapar inconcientemente de su realidad, ya que él es un joven problemático, que no posee un propósito de vida, por lo que siente que no encaja en su propia familia, dado que no cumple con las expectativas de su entorno.
Como ya dije, durante la primera temporada el motivo por el cual ocurre todo esto se desconoce por completo y constituye el principal elemento de intriga, que le proporciona su característico componente de suspenso a la narración. En algunos momentos se llega a plantear también, la posibilidad de que esa extraña y aterradora competición, esté siendo orquestada por seres extraterrestres, lo cual se fortalece debido a los rayos láser provenientes del cielo que asesinan a quienes resultan derrotados, aunque por supuesto existe igualmente la posibilidad de que se trate de tecnología avanzada desarrollada por humanos, pero que quizá provengan del futuro, incluso pudiera tratarse de una enorme simulación o realidad virtual.
En esta segunda temporada esa misma incógnita se mantiene intacta hasta el capítulo final, que es en el que definitivamente se dilucida el porqué de lo que había estado sucediendo durante toda la trama. Como ya lo mencioné, en mi opinión, la revelación que se nos muestra al final es impresionante, original y convincente, aunque entiendo que haya a quienes ese final no les resulte satisfactorio, pero en mi caso me funciona de maravilla. Creo que se consigue un grado de profundidad filosófica bastante levado y un giro narrativo perfecto, lo único “lamentable” de ese final, es que cierra tan bien la historia que no deja mucha oportunidad a la continuación directa del relato.

In some moments, the possibility that this strange and terrifying competition is being orchestrated by extraterrestrial beings is also raised, which is strengthened due to the laser beams coming from the sky that kill those who are defeated, although of course it exists equally. the possibility that it is advanced technology developed by humans, but that perhaps they come from the future, it could even be a huge simulation or virtual reality.
In this second season, that same mystery remains intact until the final chapter, which is where the reason for what had been happening throughout the plot is definitively explained. As I mentioned before, the revelation that we are shown at the end is impressive, original and convincing in my opinion, although I understand that there are those who may not find this ending satisfactory, but it works wonderfully for me. I think that a fairly high degree of philosophical depth is achieved and a perfect narrative turn, the only "unfortunate" thing about that ending is that it closes the story so well that it doesn't leave much opportunity for a direct continuation of the story.

Cuando digo que no deja demasiado chance a una continuación directa, me refiero a que el arco narrativo del protagonista se ha completado perfectamente, de modo que desarrollar una tercera temporada con él como eje argumental, sería al menos arriesgado, pues si bien se podría mostrar un futuro en el que por algún motivo vuelva a suceder algo similar, se estaría forzando una situación que no tendría sentido, debido a que ya Arisu ha evolucionado lo suficiente como para no necesitar más experiencias de ese estilo. De hecho, según lo que he podido investigar sobre el manga, la serie de Netflix ya adaptó todo el material correspondiente a la historia central, solo quedan disponibles algunos Spin-off de los que se pudiera echar mano para crear una tercera temporada.
Si Netflix decide continuar la serie intentando exprimirla un poco más, creo que lo más viable sería, que el protagonista de esta sea alguno de los personajes secundarios de la última temporada, como por ejemplo el conocido como Chishiya, pues él siempre ha sido muy desconcertante y en esta temporada llegamos a conocer un poco de su pasado y motivaciones, pero podría ser interesante una exploración más profunda de su personalidad y circunstancias de vida. Como punto extra en el caso de este personaje está el hecho de ser un rol completamente original de la serie, es decir que no aparece en el manga, esto puede ser un plus, ya que les permite a los creadores del programa moldear su arco libremente y sin ataduras al material impreso, pero también puede ser un inconveniente por no poder sustentarse en una idea ya probada en las viñetas.
Volviendo al tema que nos ocupa, es decir, lo relativo a la calidad de esta segunda temporada, me parece que el nivel de estos juegos se incrementó en cuanto a complejidad, intensidad y significado metafórico o filosófico, pues cada uno tiene que ver mucho con la voluntad individual de permanecer vivo, lo cual puede ser evidente tratándose de pruebas de supervivencia, pero es que en este caso se exploran diferentes aspectos de la naturaleza humana, como la superación de una pérdida, el sentimiento de culpa y en última instancia las ganas de vivir la vida. Quizá ese trasfondo parezca flojo a simple vista, pero puede constituir un magnífico argumento si se caracteriza correctamente, como creo que fue este el caso.

As an extra point in the case of this character is the fact that it is a completely original role in the series, that is, it does not appear in the manga, this can be a plus, since it allows the creators of the program to shape their arc freely. and without ties to the printed material, but it can also be inconvenient because it cannot be based on an idea already proven in the cartoons.
Returning to the subject at hand, that is, what is related to the quality of this second season, it seems to me that the level of these games increased in terms of complexity, intensity and metaphorical or philosophical meaning, since each one has a lot to do with the individual will to stay alive, which may be evident in the case of survival tests, but in this case different aspects of human nature are explored, such as overcoming a loss, the feeling of guilt and ultimately the desire to live life That background may seem flimsy on the surface, but it can make a great argument if it's characterized correctly, as I think this was the case.

Los personajes que forman parte de la serie en esta segunda temporada también me parece que tienen mucho peso y significado, en especial los que fungen como villanos, pues representan obstáculos sumamente contundentes que se interponen en el camino de los protagonistas, tanto en forma física como intelectual y psicológica según el caso. Por su parte, los roles de apoyo, quienes acompañan al protagonista en su recorrido o complementan la trama, dotándola de mayor profundidad, son en su mayor parte muy carismáticos y memorables, a excepción de Niragi que me parece bastante despreciable.
En esta temporada el objetivo fue derrotar a los jugadores que corresponden a las cartas mayores de cada mazo (Jota, Reina y Rey), cada uno en su propio juego. En ese sentido, observar diferentes juegos, aunque no todos los personajes principales participan en los mismos enfrentamientos, esto le da versatilidad y dinamismo al transcurrir de los episodios, aunque el ritmo llega a tener algunos altibajos en los primeros capítulos, se va incrementando y en la parte final es bastante intenso. Por otro lado, las escenas de acción me han parecido geniales, sobre todo las que se producen los capítulos finales, destacando el enfrentamiento con el Rey de Picas, que es una batalla brutal. En cambio, el duelo final con la Reina de Corazones es completamente psicológico, pero igualmente impactante.
Si hay algo que se pudiera reprochar a esta serie, es que algunos personajes son capaces de resistir agresiones físicas letales, siendo capaces de mantenerse con vida de forma inexplicable, lo cual a simple vista resulta totalmente exagerado. Sin embargo, tras descubrir el desenlace final, podemos comprender muchas cosas que terminan por darle justificación lógica a ese extremado aguante que le permite a ciertos jugadores soportar tanto daño. Por supuesto que esta apreciación es muy subjetiva y quizá otras personas no encuentren tal justificación, pero para mí fue suficiente argumento en relación con ese aspecto.
Finalmente, debo mencionar, que la serie no es perfecta, según mi perspectiva, tiene algunos detalles como la inadecuada explicación de la forma en que se resuelve el juego correspondiente a la Jota de Corazones, que se basa en la confianza y no me quedo del todo claro cómo es que los ganadores lograron tal victoria, pero ese tipo de traspiés son considerablemente pequeños, en términos generales creo que es una obra extraordinaria, de hecho, sin tener demasiado conocimiento en el ámbito, creo que esta es una de las mejores adaptaciones live action de manga o anime que existen. Por todo lo anterior, mi calificación para Alice in Borderland en su segunda temporada es de 9.5 / 10.

On the other hand, the action scenes seemed great to me, especially those that take place in the final chapters, highlighting the confrontation with the King of Spades, which is a brutal battle. Instead, the final duel with the Queen of Hearts is entirely psychological, but just as shocking.
If there is something that could be blamed on this series, it is that some characters are capable of resisting lethal physical attacks, being able to stay alive in an inexplicable way, which at first glance is totally exaggerated. However, after discovering the final outcome, we can understand many things that end up giving logical justification to that extreme endurance that allows certain players to withstand so much damage. Of course, this appreciation is very subjective and other people may not find such a justification, but for me it was enough of an argument in relation to that aspect.
Finally, I must mention that the series is not perfect, from my perspective, it has some details such as the inadequate explanation of the way in which the game corresponding to the Jack of Hearts is resolved, which is based on trust and I don't agree all clear how the winners achieved such a victory, but those kinds of missteps are considerably small, in general terms I think it is an extraordinary work, in fact, without having too much knowledge in the field, I think this is one of the best adaptations live action manga or anime that exist. For all of the above, my rating for Alice in Borderland in its second season is 9.5/10.
