Have any of you ever wondered why I have never sold my creations online? To be honest, there was a time in the past few years when I thought it would be sustainable to do so. But, I have decided against it simply because I do have a day job. My job is very demanding and the constant shift changes is enough to keep me on my toes most of the time.
Making handmade sculptures is also hard to do. One should always conceptualize new creations in order to keep everyone's interests. Not to mention, creating as many pieces as possible to meet up the demands. As the word implies- handmade items are difficult to make- even the most simple designs- as a lot of work goes to conditioning the clay, sculpting and often, making sure that you get a uniform size for all your products.
I am suddenly writing these things because, I felt that I dodged the bullet of being on the handmade business. I am not completely rejecting the idea but my life right now is not sustainable for such an endeavor. I have watched 2 videos from different clay handmade sellers advising their followers of their decisions that they are "stepping back" or, going through another journey. I felt sorry for them but also, it validated my previous decision to be on the hobby side of things for the meantime.
I know a lot of artists who had been successful in the keychain and souvenir businesses. I would have been able to make it with their guidance and support but, I decided not to. If you guys are curious, a lot of them use molds- which they made themselves- to make things easier for them to do. That ensures that the shapes, sizes and details in all their creations are all the same. That would also reduce the stress that comes into production especially if its a massive commissions( more than 100 pieces of the same thing).
Anyway, I had been craving smores for the past week. So, I made these. I was doing nights for a week or so - which explains my post just now.
To start the pieces, I used a mold to make the biscuit.
Here's how it looks like with the clay still in it.

Then I got a pieces of white clay as a filling.

And, I got tiny clay pieces to make the ears, legs and tail of the sculpture. This is another version of the chubby animals that I made previously. You guys need to forgive me for this. I am just so in love with them.
I then used the fake icing and topped it up with some embellishments- that I bought to finish the details.

I did enjoyed making these as much as I made the chubby animals. I just can't stop taking pictures of them.
