Today I came across a blog of recently created LEO account's blog, which made me to stop, and think for a while.
This author has created his Hive account less than two month ago, on "threespeak", yet has zero followers, zero follows,
0.00 LEO, 0.00 LP and just miserable 23 delegated HP (Hive Power) tokens to him.
Rather helpless, right?

Never the less, I see him in the last 4 days published eight good posts, all from LeoFinance UI.
All these posts, while maybe not the very best I've ever seen, were quite well made, yet having 3-5 upvotes at most, and rewards were all below 1 Leo.

And I said - no, this is unfair.

Besides doing routine upvoting in this blog, had to decide which of them is the best for TORUK's hit.
Finally I picked one of the recent. Simply do not wanted to give max boost to the older post.

But something kept swarming in my mind:

Is this all I can do in supporting him?

This fresh Lion (Kitty?) clearly needs visibility. And encouragement.

Finally, I came to a new conclusion, which I will disclose now to LEO people.

From now on, once TORUK sees some exceptional, persistent, hard struggling new authors here on LEO, he will do a bit more, that just leaving a plain message "I was here". Something what should help to be seen more. To break through the ever growing daily post stream. A bonus. This:

Rebloging is easy, and cost me nothing.
Yes, sure, I do not have thousands of followers here on Leo, on this account. But even 200 is better than zero, or 10, right?

Promotion? Yes, why not? Lets try it

Promotion has a double positive effect. Besides giving a standout, better visibility to the promoted blog, it also benefits to the whole community. Those LEO coins paid for promotion gets burned. Which reduces the total supply. Which, accordingly, benefits for LEO token price growth. Sure, not a big deal, but again, as oldtimers say - "grain to grain will get you to..."

I make no commitments how much will be paid for promotions, nor how often this will be done. Maybe once a month, maybe twice a week. (After all, who knows what I will see and find)

Follow Toruk

Last few days I was thinking a lot how to increase the number of Leo curators, who are following my upvotes with their voting bots. There is no incentive advantage for me having more voting followers. But it makes feel good seeing, how a low voted post comes up by +10 or more instantly, once my vote has been recorded to the blockchain.

If you have a limited time for manual curations, feel free to follow this my curation account with your favorite voting bot.
I personally use rewarding.app and hive.vote bots, but there are more, all suitable.
Who knows, if this works well, I may one day even establish some promotion (prize, lottery, or smth I don't know yet) for my voting followers. Maybe Toruk will have his own "army" one day 😃

Engagement can help a lot and I see lack of engagement from new users. I don't know why, maybe they are not familiar with how engagement can help or don't know how to do it.

I was thinking except my usual curation when i grow my Leo stake way more to make a new initiative providing upvotes to quality posts that are older than 1 day. Somehow after a day our posts feel "useless" mostly nobody pays attention to it.

I also heard that leo might do something about our posts that are after the payout, i wish they do something but we will see!

It's great what you're doing, but how will you keep the pace when 10x such users will come to hive on a weekly basis, plus you have the old and salted ones.

With the risk of getting ridiculed I'll once again say that auto votes and curation trails do more harm than good for this blockchain.

Often times these are taking tokens from the rewards pool distributing them usually to the same users while newcomers end up with leftovers.

I know, they're the founders and OGs, but if we want such users as the ones you've mentioned to gain exposure and see their content appreciated, we need to do some tweaks...

If that guy/gal will not loose faith, and with your help he will definitely won't lose it, he has a bright future in here.

Thumbs up for what you're doing. Quite exceptional.

I have something planned that will be revealed shortly and I actually think it goes very well in hand with your ideas too. @onealfa.leo, I just had a look at his/her/its posts. They are OK. I find them interesting. However, there is one slight drawback, at least in my view. This account has no introduction post. It also has no post with any pictures/videos where we can see who is behind the account. Moreover, the posts published so far look like 'copy+paste'-posts. I can well understand your concerns. But I have no proof if it is plagiator or scammer. And have not enough time or tools to make a deep research.

If anyone can make a deeper research, and see if these articles have any copy-paste proof, as a plagiation job, I will appreciate.
And will well reward your efforts.

It should be done ASAP, before the post is expired, so I can remove my upvotes in time ( if I need to)

There is always a risk, that some trained, motivated plagiators will be smarter than you, will fool everyone, and get rewards which they do not deserve. We must live with this risk.

Those, who one day fail, and I get the evidence of my mistake (in promoting) - will learn how bad and hard TORUK can hit back, in revenge. :)

I googled a few of the more distinct phrases from each of two posts. Each search returned few results and HIVE front ends were usually the first and/or second result, with other results poorly connected to the phrase. That's cursory, but I'm leaning toward original work.

I'm not looking for any reward as I did not dig all that deeply nor spend more than a moment or two.

I’ve only had a cursory look over one of the posts however they read as if the “author” has converted content from a different language to English. So they could be a copy and paste job with a language conversion thrown in to make them harder to identify as plagiarism.
Something to keep in mind anyway.

When I started posting in Leo, I explored a bit what others are posting and I saw some articles with huge numbers of upvotes, comments and rewards. I wanted to interact with the community that's why I jumped into the comment section. It was there where I found out about Toruk, trust me it was immediately my goal that one of my articles gets that "Toruk was here" banner. It was a post about Telegram that got caught your eye at first!
You and your inciative has been a motivation for me to make better and better articles...seeing this articles it makes me even more motivated!

I'm glad you brought this up. I created a curation account for manual curation and I even posted and asked the community how I should use it. I didn't even realize someone could automatically follow your vote. If I figure out how to do that I will. You are the most supportive of the rank and file here and I want to curate to encourage authors. That's the only way to grow the community. Good job! It's tough for new users who are putting a lot of effort into their content and getting nothing or very little in return. One nice upvote could help change their opinion of the platform or encourage them to keep going.

I'm still pretty new here, hopefully some day I'll be able to help out some new authors!

I am not new to Hive but only occasionally post from Leo. I do curate for Neoxian city paper. I will watch out for posts such as the one you point out because encouraging new users is a must for us to grow and expand these platforms.

You are doing a really good thing @onealfa because this kind of early encouragement for new users is how a community creates "stickiness" and prevents the eternal problem not just Hive/LeoFinance might face (ALL community have this problem) of people signing up, posting a few times... and then becoming a "dead" account.

Retention is often the result of people feeling like they are getting off to a flying start. Pouring your heart and soul into a dozen good posts and being rewarded with... four cents leaves a really sour taste in a content creator's mouth, AND might lead them to go away and talk about a community as a place you only get seen if you're part of the insider club."

So BIG PLUS points to you for your initiatives!

I think the Toruk movement is doing an excellent job, greatly motivating authors to create financial content. I say this as a relatively new user but I am always in the footsteps of Toruk, to follow that example.

The truth is I have been in Hive for months but I had not used the leofinace.io platform until I saw Toruk's publications, from there I changed my perspective and I am motivated to create financial content.

Toruk has motivated me to start buying leo with the rewards and to collect them, even in my 2021 goal plan leo is the main token I am taking into account for planning. All thanks to the Toruk movement.

I absolutely love what you are doing here. We should give these new users a good motivation. Today I managed to get a user from Reputation 25 to 30 after spending 22 days on Hive. I hope they haven't left after getting discouraged. It's not great content by any means. User is @rob23

Giving these new guys a warm welcome as long as they post OK quality posts will help user retention. You can only keep people around showing them how much they can earn before they realize they aren't getting much attention at all. I really appreciate what you've done here. You've been a big supporter of me too :)

I've finally made it to Orca in 2021. It's a nice way to start the 1st week of new year. I honestly should have bought more LEO. It all went up super fast last week.On the bright side, my vote will worth more. My LEO account is now worth more than my 2K Hive :)

I looked at Toruk already and his reputation is 3. I read your posts and I know you are a real supporter for content creators here. For me, I read so many posts on LeoFinance and they are my teachers. I will learn much more from you and other writers here.
